I want to change banks away from natwest which should i choose?
i want a bank that has ability. Natwest is p*ssing me off. I've tried to set up a internet account for my current account for nearly 2 years and they just won't send me through the activation code to start it and when i complain they just tell me to ring an expensive 0845 number and then the people just say they'll send it through the post again but it never comes!

I need to see my account online so i can mange it properly, duh! I've been charge nearly £100 this year alone for getting debt which i wouldn't do it i could manage my account properly. On top of that natwest is pants anyway poor interest rates etc.

Are building soceitys a better idea?

First direct is the cats whiskers.

I used to work for Nat West and moved when they made me redundant.

I expect a high level of service and have tried various other banks but First Direct are fabulous.

Mother and Father of two
I bank with Lioyds and Barclay's, i have also worked for LIoyds for years, personally i would recommend LIoyds but everyone who's had a bad experience would advise against this - when i worked for them they genuinely cared about the service they were offering!

Good Luck deciding!

In addition go on bbc news website and enter into the search engine bank charges down load the letter and send it in, due to the ongoing test case you might not get anything or even have to wait a while but fingers crossed we Will all get our money back.

Building societies are good and better if you want to save.

But for everyday use, I would recommend LloydsTSB. You will have to apply online to have internet banking. But you can do most things online.

Home Girl
I am with Natwest and bank online with no probs at all. And interest rates with Savings Direct are very good. I think all banks get bad publicity for overdraft fees etc so just list all the banks and close your eyes and stick a pin in.

Try the Nationwide I find them good with great on line banking facilities.

hi im with hsbc, great service, been with them for 4 years and had no problems, they have a 24 hours local rate number for customer service which is great, after you open an account with them simply go online fill in the apply for online banking and you get your loging details withing a week, and away you go, manage multiple accounts online, make payments, transfers. everything. couldnt reccomend enough,

hop this helps.

It depends on what you want. If you're savvy and understand finance and banking, or if you need simple explainations- different banks may be better.

Co-op have been dreadful- ringing me up with patronising calls "Did you know you can pay in at the post office" Arrrrghhh yes I do because I'm not thick and don't like being patronised. They have been terribly inefficient and made lots of mistakes.

Alliance and Leicester are fairly low-frills, and leave you alone to get on with things, but annoyingly arrange the statements so all debits come before credits.

Nationwide are fairly decent with online stuff, and fairly quick if you forget your details and need to reset your access codes.

i have been with nationwide for over 20 years now and have never had a single problem with them (touch wood) however I have never tried t'internet banking so dont know about that side of things

I work for HSBC ok and all banks are cnts if you go over you limit but at the moment I would say that hsbc are the best they have online saver with up to 6% aer you cant go rong really and you will have internet banking immeditaly and they are a contenetal bank so if you go abraud you are fine!!
And theyr charges are beter than most other banks! Not that they are good though lol

DAVID S
BUILDING SOCIETIES NO BETTER.JUST LEFT ABBEY WHO ARE RUBBISH FOR NATWEST.

taz man
frying pan to fire. They are all as good/bad as each other. They just want to sell you things. I have been with TSB for 25 years and I cannot fault them.
