Juan S | I want to move out my house and im 21 years old What is it that I need and How do I Do it with my income? |
21 years old with a part-time job that pays no more then 600 bi-weekly and during certain points i do overtime that adds up to 750-800 bi-weekly on occasions. i also hav bills adding to 300 a month, cell, credit cards etc i have become VERY stress living with them because of my age and the fact that they want things their way because it there house even tho i pay some wat a little bit of rent. i think moving out is going to make me more responsiable and more better on myself. i had in mind to look for a roommate or rent out a room. the problem is i want to take my queen size bed a 6 cabinet drawer and my 42in TV i also i have quiet a lot of clothes in a way. i work and am mostly out the house i just want to know how much money i would need to move out and if its possiable to move out with the income that i have. i know that its going to be a struggle but i can do it because im very independent i just have to know how can i do it with the income that i have. ANY HELP ? Additional Details I live in New york City, in the Bronx, im going back to school this semester i had taken a semester off its getting to the point where home with my parents is not a option for to long so i need to start to move out soon i was hoping in the next couple of months in enought time to save up
i have a bit of a saving problem because to me 20 dollar bills are like dollar bills because they tend to come and go very fast so what do i have to do to start saving because right now its paycheck to pay check that i am living |

I would say that you will need to save up at least $1500, to pay the first month*s rent and the last month*s rent, then you will have to pay a deposit. You will need money to turn on the electricity and the water. You will need either cable, Dishnet or Direct tv whatever service is in your area. If you want internet, you will need a telephone, but if you have a cell phone you won*t need long distance service. You will need to buy groceries and cleaning supplies, you will need bedding, and the necessary supplies for the bathroom. It can be difficult living on your own and like the rest on here, if you can get a roommate or get a very small apartment. Good Luck, knowing the area you live it would have been helpful to the answerers. |

stay home, save some money first, then move out, most move out too early and just live paycheck by paycheck and when they are in traouble its home they go. so save at least 6 months rent b4 you leave. no rush, unless ur parents dont want you to stay |

Get a full-time job or another part-time job, although you probably have enough income if you get a roommate and watch your spending. Get another job right now, save as much money as you can, then move out in six months. You can do it. |

you better wait a few months. You need a deposit for the rental, deposit for the electric too. If you have a cell phone you wont need a land phone-unless you will be on the internet. It takes alot of money-not counting-renters insurance.ggod luck-work all the overtime possible |

Without knowing where you live it is really impossible to say. In some parts of the country you could find a nice apartment for 500-600 monthly, which you could afford, others you will need at least double if not more. Generally you need one months security and the first months rent. Contact a real estate agent and see what they have available in the 400 to 600 range. |

It's hard to tell if you can afford it without knowing where you live. But with that amount of money you should get a roommate so you don't have to spend all of your money on rent. If you take the master bedroom your bed should be fine. I don't know how living alone would make a difference in your bed fitting. Also, I'm sure roommates would be happy to have the 42 inch TV in the living room.
If you decide not to get a roommate you should look into getting a studio apartment. I just think it's important to make sure you don't spend too much on rent. You don't want to get stuck with a huge monthly payment at your age, especially since you say you are not home very much. Also, you're young so it's a good time to start saving money... |

Go to college and get at least an associates degree in something, it will help you out in life BIG TIME. You'll have a lot of debt for the next few years, but think longterm. |

you could find a house with a roommate. Or apartment. you usually; need a deposit which usually equals the amount of the rent so you would need like 1000 up front, then you will need deposits to get the gas, electric, water turned on, so there is like 300, then grocery's, like 50, then you need your TV, cable which is like 50, this is all the first month then it will not be so expensive after that, it is so hard to budget your money,
this is what I usually do at the end of each pay week I write out my check, by the week then I write what I have to take out of it for bills then what is left is what I use for that ever. |
