The charge comes to an average 8.9%. But many of them will now let you use 100% of the credit toward a gift card useable at one of many vendors, like Barnes & Noble, Starbucks, etc. - this is definitely worth it if you were going to spend the money there anyway.
Banks will let you bring in coins, but most will require you to do the sorting and put them in the appropriate coin wrappers, which is a real pain. Hope that helps. |

Don't use coinstar unless you are planning on using it at the store that it is at (usually they waive the fee if you buy stuff at the store with the money).
I hate to recommend individual businesses but one bank, Commerce actually got this one right, they have a coin counter at almost every branch that is totally free and they pay you in bills right then and there....you cant beat it, dump your coins in the machine and out comes a receipt and you go to the counter and they hand you cash. |

If you go to your bank they'll do it for free. Just go up to the counter and ask them to do it.
