Sign the back of the check and give it to him to deposit. |

Sign your name on the back of the cheque, give it to him to take to the bank to lodge... at this point it'll be a third party cheque and may take 3-4 days to clear... your friend will also be required to sign the back of the cheque... the money will be in his account within 4 days. |

You could struggle, these days, I'm afraid. The banks should no longer accept cheques which are not made out to the account holder, even if they have been signed on the back. You might have to go to a cheque cashing service and pay the commission. |

You may not like having a bank account, but trust me, it's your best bet, under the circumstances. It will eliminate headaches down the road. You should be established with a bank in this day & age. |

If you don't like current accounts, how about a simple bank savings account? You need only keep a couple of pounds in it but it would be handy on occasions such as this. Simple to open, too! |

It's still the same procedure. You sign the check and your friend sign the check. However, you may want to be careful. Is this friend trustworthy? He may just deposit the check and not give you any money. If you don't want to open a bank acount, then you could just pay the bank a fee to cash the check yourself. |

Most banks wont let you do this process anymore.
If they do, you will have to wait for the check to clear before the funds will be released to you. A better way to do this is....
Go to the bank, that is on the check and even though you don't bank with them, they will be able to cash it. They might ask for a fee though. Walmart also cashes checks for no more that 3.00. |

if it is a crossed cheque, then it can only go into an account with your name on it, otherwise get whoever wrote the cheque to you to put it into your friends name, then you can pay it into their account |

just be careful. |

unfortunately, you can't do this anymore. the banks have too many security procedures in place to stop people doing this. If the cheque is in your name, it MUST go into an account in your name. It can't be signed and put into someone else's bank account anymore.
You can go into a cheque cashing place and ask them what you need for them to cash it for you, but there will be a charge for this service. They take so much of the cheque in payment for doing it. |

If the cheque is crossed with the words "Account payee only" , as most are nowadays, you are going to struggle. You could request the person/company that issued the cheque to re-issue it in the name of your friend, but they may not wish to do this.
Probably best bite the bullet and open a bank account. If you don't like them, ask for a Basic Bank Account (BBA). These are designed for basic banking facilities, are free and you can't go overdrawn, so no charges. |

You cant put the cheque in your friends account if it is made out to your name best way is to get the person who sent the cheque to change it for a postal order or if it is from the DSS or tax office send it back and get them to change it to a GIRO |

Oh for goodness sake - how are you going to go through life without a bank account? Where is your wage going to go? You need to start an account straight away. |

I think you can still do it that way but if not you may have to cash the check and then get your friend to deposit it into his account. please be absolutely sure you can trust this person before you do anything. Hope this helps! Good Luck! |

I don't think you are allowed to put a cheque in your name into your friends named account. |
