I won an auction on ebay, but i decided i didn't want it because i didn't read it carefully, what should i do?
I know it was my fault for not reading the description carefully.

I won an auction on ebay and i would like to cancel my bid, is this possible? I would like to cancel my bid and avoid receiving a negative feedback. Should i contact the seller and tell them about my mistake, and maybe pay them their listing fee for my mistake?

What should i do to not receive a negative feedback? Is the only way to solve this is to buy the item?

Jack
You can contact the seller and ask them to offer someone else the item, giving them a second chance.

Basically its called, you bid you buy..as every auction you bid on is a legally binding contract between you and the seller, but you can give it a shot at emailing them and asking to pay for their listing fees and them give the item to a second chance bidder.

If the person is sympathetic and forgiving as to you not reading the listing you may be in luck if not, you may be in for for an item you didn't want and negative feedback.

Hope all goes well.

As you are well aware you have entered into a contract in bidding and are legally bound to pay up if you win. Having said that I did exactly what you did, I apologised to the seller and offered to pay for the item to be re sold. I think you will find that most people accept that we all get it wrong sometimes and they are usually reasonable about it.
Front up and even if the seller is not as understanding then 1 negative feedback will quite honestly be ignored by everyone else. At worst you will be classed a timewaster by the seller.

you can talk to the seller, but people are pretty anal on ebay, and you will most likely get a negative feedback. Decide if its worth the negative, and remember you will have the chance to explain yourself as to why you got a negative feedback to all potential sellers/buyers. I just dealt with a ***** who after a month never sent me my product and when I turned her in she emailed me and asked if I would give her a positive feedback if she agreed to pay me back, I told her yes thinking she would give me a positive in return, but the ***** gave me nothing more than my money back, which is fine, but I never would have gave her a posititive if I wouldve known she wasnt gonna give me one.

HousesOfTheHoly
Well, did you outbid somebody for the item or were you the only bidder?
If you outbid someone, a curteous email to the seller explaining would be good. That way, they can sell the item for a bit less, but still get a sale. It's called 'Second chance offer'
If there were no other bidders, email the seller and explain. I'm sure they'd be happy with that. Asking to pay the listing fees may be a nice touch.
I don't think they'd leave negative feedback if you explained.
Good luck.

Ask them to make a second chance offer to another bidder

anojetak
If you bid on an item in an auction and won it you are contracted to follw through with the purchase.
You can politely approach the seller and
1)request to pay for the listing without penalty

2) request the seller to resell the item for you

3) request the seller asks the next highest bidder if they want a second offer

4)when you pay and receive the item - resell it on eBay or through garage sale or local paper

Always remember to read the fine print and good luck with your purchase

guyster
I would ask the seller if you can get out of it.
But if they won't do it, I think you're kind of stuck. Words mean something. I had the same thing happen to me and I completed the transaction and resold the item.
I think it's important to take the high road when you can.

yea email the seller and tell them you'll pay the fees for listing and the fee ebay takes from the final price and they prolly wont give you negative feedback

The best way is to contact the seller and see what's possible. But keep in mind a negative feedback is not the end of the world. No one is perfect.

Contact the seller and talk about it. That is the only way to solve it other than going through and paying for an item you do not want. I would offer to pay the listing fee and tell them you want to do business in the future and take all the blame for it. If the seller is a responsible and reasonable person it should work out.

Forgive me for my bluntness, but buy the item and relist it.
Use this as a lesson, now you remember to read the description more carefully, if the seller lets you off the hook you won't learn anything!
Except how to weasel out of your responsibility!
