Anyone can deposit a check if they have your account number.
I have deposited many checks for others, including my employees!
Anyone can endorse a check... best endorsement is this written in legible or block letters:
FOR DEPOSIT ONLY
Your Bank Name
Your account Name
Your full name (not signature)
Signature is optional and not required.
BTW anyone who says a signature is an endorsement, has no clue about the banking system... an endorsement tells the bank how to deposit a check.
Most businesses have an endorsement stamp and the info given above is usually contained in it, along with the bank's ABA routing number. |

All that needs to be on the back of the check is "for deposit only" with your account number. It shouldn't be a problem. |

Not sure of the exact law on this but I regularly write "For Deposit Only" on the back of my wife's checks (never get her to endorse them I just write that) and put it into our account and nobody seems to care. This is a joint account that I am also on, but I doubt that makes any difference, as they have never asked me for id when I'm just making a deposit. |

She can write "for deposit only" on the back of the check with your deposit slip.
I have never been asked any questions when depositing a check into a friends or family's account.
It's when you withdraw, then they ask you for id. |

Best bet is to put "For Deposit Only" on the back of your check and go to the night deposit. Some banks won't even allow another person to make a deposit because the teller gives a deposit receipt, which contains your bank account number. I had a problem depsiting my own husband's check into his account when we still had separate accounts!!!
Get your mom to place it in the night deposit if they give her a bunch of hooplah...it doesn't hurt to try to deposit, but I know for a fact that almost every bank will not allow you to deposit money if it's not your account~I've been there already!!!! |

As long as you have a signature and she isn't cashing it you do not need to be there. If you won't be there on Friday to sign your check, I would say wait until you get back from out of town, allow her to forge the signature, or put her on your account for the time being. |
