If they report you to Checksystems then you will not be able to open another checking accout. Check-systems means oweing another financial institution money. Wells fargo has a checking account that will allow customers on check-systems to open an acct though. |

You are usually placed onto a Cheks System list... that almost every creditable bank checks before opening an account... you will have to pay your debt off and prove it to a bank before opening an account. |

No, you should be able to open up another account with any major bank or credit union. If you are on check systems you may not be able to open a checking account until you resolve any past issues. Best wishes |

I work at a small community bank and if ANY bank closed your accounts for any reason it will show up in the opening process and we will not open the account. If you account was closed due to NSFs then once you pay all charges to Bank of America it will fall off of Chex Systems. |

Why did they shut it down? |

Why would you think anyone would want to do business with someone like you? |

I think you need to get your financial act together first.
I'm being truthful, not nasty.
NSF fees more than once in an 18 month period are a clear sign that you are not ready for a checking account and you are not managing your money correctly. Moving to a new bank will not solve that problem.
The short answer to your question, though, is yes...the major banks have a system to ensure that everybody knows who is a major risk to the system. Once on that list almost everyone will reject you as a customer.
Your best bet, once you get money management down, will be a Credit Union or a smaller web-based bank. |

You would be banished from all Bank of America banks, but not other banks. Unless you did something criminal, like robbing a bank. That could cause problems with banks in the future. |

No you are not banished from all major banks per se, but they may or may not be able to see that BOA closed your account. I'm not sure that another bank would be able to tell whether BOA closed your account due to something negative such as passing bad checks constantly or something not so negative as inactivity for a certain number of months. |

As long as you have cash in hand or its equivalent, you can open an account at any bank you choose. Well, maybe not BofA anymore, but anyone else. |

That;s an open question. no answer. |

You can probably go to another bank, but it depends on what you did. Can you give more details so people can give you better answers? |
