Well first of all I think some people are a little ignorant when it comes down to whether you should get married first before you live together. Marriage doesn't make your relationship (financial or romantic) any better or worse. My boyfriend and I have been together for 7 years and have lived together for almost 2 with no serious problems. Why: because we split everything half and half and we have a good relationship. So next time anyone thinks that it's not possible to live together without being married , realize that like half of the population does what I do, and some have problems and some don't. I also think it's funny that people think the guy should pay for everything. My boyfriend and I have never argued about finances and that is because we split everything, yet the same people that are laughing at us for doing that are the same people that have financial arguments about who is spending what because they have joint checking accounts, etc. As far as "what does or does not go in the house" well, you have to be fair. It's about both being able to be equal in your house. And yes both people should work, it's only fair and in this tragic day and age I don't really think you have a choice anymore. |

Every relationship is different -- this should be discussed prior to moving in together and if you can't agree - don't move in together.... |

Well first of all it is not the best idea for couples that are not married to live together permenatley no offense but in that situation the Female does all the decorating crap but dude set aside on room for urself call it the man room and u decorate it how ever u want it but let the female because dont matter what udo when u get married kiss at least half ure stuff good bye
And when it comes to work if one person makes way more then what is needeed than it is no need for the other spouse to work but if u have no kids its makes no sense for one to work and the other not to besides if ure dating both of u should work |

i think they should decide all this together, and maby split the bills unless one has alot of money and the other is kinda poor, but they should do whats best for them |

Ummmm. This is why you don't live together withou the benefit of marriage.
You should have worked out all of those details BEFORE shacking up. |

this is a very good question and im feeling like youre a little hostil with your partner right now. if you guys got the house together then it should be 50 50 because you made that decsion to live together but if its his house or vice versa there should be a monthly amount (rent) that is payed. like i said it just depends but i know how you feel im in the same situation and i wish the best to you.

it should be as equal as possible.
If one person makes a lot more money than the other, of course they should not pay as much. But both have equal say about what goes on in the house. The person's name on the bill is of course legally obligated to pay the bill. But the couple needs to work out who in fact pays, or helps pay them.
Don't let money create problems. Agree on a plan that's fair , stick with it, and move on to better and happier things. :) |

Separate pay checks; separate bills. Why live together when you can can just "stay over." |

Everything should basically be split. |

this is pretty simple.....if you are both living there then you both have a say in what goes into or out of the home and you both are responsible for paying the bills. Its called compromise and responsibility. |

no then should both pay the bills both say wat goes on in the house and they should both work beacuse if they don't they wo't have enough money to pay all of the bills |

It sounds like you are in a relationship that needs to either marry and continue or you two need to start compromising and sharing the responsbilities. You are living as a married couple already. But no one person should have all the say. Its a partnership. |

NOO
Both should be doing all of these things together, that's what I would say at least...
I suppose if you have a different outlook than mine (outspoken, modern feminist) than you might think differently
I think everything should be equal
