I would not spend a dime of the money.
Would invest it and live off the interest it generates.
Then you never have to worry about running out of money.
P.S. Once you spent it all, you'd be right back to where you are today. |

If you gave me a million bucks, I would spend only 1 % of it on expenses. Then I will use the rest to buy assets. When I say assets, I don't mean a car to buy or a house to live in. I mean like a business like McD or Starbucks, or real estate properties like apartment units which will bring me returns every month, or land, where I am positive that I can sell later on for commercial properties. And also on stocks, but not just the average where everyone is just hoping that the market don't crash or their investment don't go down in value. I'm talking about stock options, which is where the money is, because stock options are advanced strategies.
Most people don't have that much because they only know how to spend money. They don't know how to multiply money. But it's not just the average person. There are millionaires who go bankrupt, and there are a lot of stars who have to depend on a job now because they spent all their millions on everything else but their financial education.
I wrote an ebook about money called It's Your Turn to Be Rich. I think that everyone who answered your question should read it. They will learn a lot about money.

wow, well the first thing is to erase my debt and then buy a house and a car. then I would put the rest in a couple of cd's and have a spending account for everything else.

i would spend about... 10k on stocks, 500k into bank (more interest $_$) maybe 200k or so could go into a new tesla roadster for my mom and converting all our cars to hybrids. |

I would give 100,000 to the church, probably another 50,000 to make a wish or something along those lines and then invest the rest into forex and live off the earnings. maybe put something down on a larger home as well. |

Shopping spree yes!! i would spend 75,000 on a shopping spree because, well im a girl i think that explains it all.
i would donate 25,000 to my local childerns hospital, because i love helping out. i would save 500,000 for college starting my new life. I would give 200,000 to my parents for helping raise me. And i would spend or keep the other 200,000 depending on if i need it or not. |
