Yes.
And if the check bounces the bank will debit your account and charge you a fee for the bad check.
Also: watch for scams for checks you may get in the mail. Checks are usually under $2.00
Scammers have your account information after you cash the check and your signature and any ID written on the check. They use this info to steal identities and attempt to order checks on your account and send the new checks to another address. Then they start drawing off your account quickly. |

I would think that it would be your money. So yes. |

You are not only responsible for that cash, but you become responsible for the check it's self if it become's an N.S.F.
type of check.
This would mean that you would also have to pay the fine that in most bank's is $20.00. |

Yes, if the check later bounces you'll owe that money back to the bank, plus a fee for trying to process a bad check. |

If you are unsure if the check will bounce, do not spend the money right away. Make sure you allow it to go through your bank and their bank so the check can clear. I would wait a week or even two just to make sure. Otherwise, if you put a check for $1,000 in there, and it bounces, but you already used the money, you are responsible for that $1,000 and you will owe the bank. Yes, you could take the person to court and sue them for damages, but it is unlikely that this will work. |

I don't understand. If they wrote you a check, what is the issue? |
|

Just wonderin'
|
Your question is ambiguous at best. A check that is cashed at a bank or institution must clear the account of the writer before your responsibility is removed. If you cash a check that does not clear the bank due to non-sufficient funds, closed account, fraud or any other reason, the amount of cash you received can be taken out of your account. |

you need to explain more..like was it personal check?if so then you will get charges for it bouncing and the person will but then it goes back too their bank...then you go after the one who gve you check and gt your bounce fees back plus the amount of check
If someone sent you a check and you cashed it but it was a scam then yes you are resonsible until you get the right officals involved to work with you.. |

Absolutely. I would recommend that you take the check directly to the institution it is written on (if it's local). If the check is good, they will cash it for you - you will need a photo i.d. If the institution is not local, then your institution may put a hold on the check. If they don't, be sure the funds are in your account to cover it in case it is returned. The last person to sign the back of the check is the final person responsible for it. |

I received a refund check because the company made illegal charges on my cell bill.
I received a call from the institution where i cashed the check, saying that the account that the check was written on was closed.
They financial institution said I am responsible, but how can that be, since I did not write the check?
Also, I have no way to pay the money back right away, so what do i do? |
