$100,000 each of ten very well-rated and diversified mutual funds. That way I'd have lots of time to give this more thought and use the money in a wise way!
Now, if I had to just blow it ... a MILLION isn't much anymore. Charitable giving gets a big cut to start with. How much fun it would be funding $100K of Kiva.org microloans!! Then, I'd pay outright for lovely, simple home, a new car for me and a used one one for my teen, fund a pre-paid college plan for her, a round-the-world trip over summer for us, and just put the balance on some big gift cards to Kohl's, JC Penneys, and WalMart!! (Can I pre-pay the vet a few grand? She seems to get a lot of our money anyway!) |

I'd buy my parents a really nice house and perhaps get myself and my sister a nice car.
I'd buy an apartment loft...and I don't know what else I'd do.
If I could, I'd invest some of it in stock and use that money later on or put it in my savings so I could retire nicely later on in life. |
