If something costs two quarters, is it ok to say it costs .50 cents?
.50 cents i see all the time, but is it correct? shouldnt it either be .5 dollars or 50cents? Thank you, and a source would help put my mind to ease once and forever.

Not OK.
This is what many people on every corner of tthe world make .
0.50cents mean half of 1.0 cent not half of 1 dollar or rupee or guilder. when people(especially uneducated sellers/vendors want to exagerate price reduction) they used this.

.50 cents is incorrect. That would make it half a cent. It's either 50cents or $.50

.50 cents is a mistake but a common one. Because it implies something is 1/2 a penny.

It is written as $.50 or 50 cents. One cent is 1/100 dollars. Decimals indicate a portion of 100. To say it is .50 cents would be the same as one half of a cent rather than 50 cents.

There are plenty of websites which explain decimals if you do not understand what they mean. Google it!

.50cents is wrong..that means half a cent.
.5 dollars is correct and 50cents is correct

I say if something costs 2 quarters say 2 quarters. That way people won't think "o, I can pay with dimes, nickels, or pennies." It makes it clear that it needs 2 quarters.

But if it doesn't require 2 quarters, then I would just say 50 cents. Not .50 cents because then it seems like you want half of a penny. you don't want that. You need to just say 50 cents.

As you know, money can be written in two ways:
For example, you know that a quarter is 25 cents.
Money could be written as $0.25 or 25¢. They're both the same thing, but all stores use the $0.25 method.

So two quarters equals fifty cents:
$0.25 + $0.25 = $0.50

Like the example I showed you above, fifty cents could be written as $0.50 or 50¢. Again, both are the same, but all stores write it as $0.50

You are technically correct.
Either of those would be technically correct.
50 cents
or .5 dollar(s) <<?

When you simply say "fifty cents" you don't have the impression of a decimal point being there.

wow dude, this question is so hard... let me take a guess...

if someone asks you how much you have inside your pocket, tell them, "i have point five dollars in my pocket"!!!!!

*problem solved*

It should be 50 cents. .50 without cents attached to it means 50 cents, but .50 cents technically makes no sense.
