If that is your only income, then you are relatively poor.

Depends on how you spent it. Did you spend it all on bills, spend frivolous, invest, etc? If you invested, you could have a nice nest egg by now. Rich is so Subjective. You can be rich and not have a lot of money. Just depends on how you live your life.

You could live off 2000 $ a month that's for sure..But you're definetly not rich..Make a budget for yourself..I'm a full time college student and I live in my own appartment. I have a VERY strict budget but my appartment's cute, I eat well, have cable and am okay with it. I have only 25$ of personnal spending money every week, which is not a lot but it's better that some people have, so I'm content and look foward to the future when I'll have more liberty with my money. (I work 30hrs a week at minimum waige, so 8,50$/hour) If you're making 2000/monthly for the rest of our life, you'll just be tight with money I guess.

$2,000/month = $24,000/year. If that is rich, why can't I retire now?

seeking knowledge
this question makes no sense.

William J
Remember "rich" is a subjective term. You could be rich if you make/have one more dollar than the guy next to you. If you've kept 2k/month for 10 years you certainly are doing very well. If you've that's all you've earned then you're probably making do.

Money-Magnets
How do you define rich?

If your expenses are more than that then you are deeply in debt!

Well that's 24,000 dollars a year, for ten years, so that's $240,000 in all... minus your expenses, JUST THE NECCESITIES housing, food, clothing, whoever else you're supporting, etc).

I personally would not want to only have 240k minus the necessitous expenses in ten years...
