Since you have not said if the taxes are paid, I would cut the amount in half and put half in savings for taxes. With the remaining 500K I would pay off all debt, next I would pay off a house of my choosing. A house paid off will mean I would not have to make up the mortgage payment from any wages. The above things are for security. All debt paid off and a house that would cost me little (Taxes, Insurance, Utilities, Upkeep, Expansion / refurbishment).
The next item I would purchase is a business that is prepetual. An up and coming franchise would be nice, but many times this is a million by itself. |

If I got a million dollars, I would make the most of my money. The first thing I would do is pay off my parents' mortgage. That would save them $620.00 a month. Then I would calculate what to do with the rest of my money. I would put some in savings, put some money in cd's, build me a house, and I would fence in my parent's property. |
