Unless you have insurance on the lost phone, you are screwed. I lost my phone a few months back, and had to suck it up and buy a new phone at retail price. Well, that was my only option, I actually bought it on EBay at a decent price. I suggest checking EBay and craig's list before you go to the mobile phone store and drop a giant wad of cash on a new phone. |

No, usually the only thing that would cause you to extend your contract would be getting another subsidized phone. When you sign up for new service you usually get a much cheaper price on your phone than if you were to buy it outright without signing a contract.
They give you this lower price because they're counting on having you as a customer for the next two years, so they can spread the price of that phone out. The same when you renew a contract, you're essentially telling your phone company that you'll be around for another two years, so they'll let you get a new phone at a cheaper than normal price.
I'd recommend trying to find a phone on eBay that's compatible with your provider's network. Once you have the new phone, just call them up and tell them you want to change the equipment associated with your phone number.
You should verify that they'll let you do that first, and you may want to verify it with more than one person because people in the cell phone industry have a bad habit of giving you bad information instead of admitting they don't really know the answer to your question. |

If you get a different phone you have to get a new contract, If you stay with the phone you have now just get a new one you have to pay a little for losing it and getting the new one but you don't need to get another contract , it continues the same one. |

i think it works like this...
if you have a contract with insurance you could get it by paying to replave it. but if you want a new one at discount price (like getting it with a rebate) then you will have to renew the contract.
but if you dont have insurance and you want the same phone you have to pay for it full price without the rebate. it all depends on the company also |

if u had a phone insurance, u jus pay the access and get a new phone, or else the phone isnt covered, gotta buy one outright or get another contract, but ul have 2 contracts!!!!!! |
