All I can say is thankfully I'm Canadian and we are not in as bad as a rough spot. But I would definitely mail $5, overall it's going to help America's future. I watched President Bush live during his speel tonight on tv, and I don't know about this "Bill" that he wants to pass, I don't understand how the government can have like $7billion dollars of taxpayers money laying around, and the fact that he said "most of it" will be returned?? Hmmmm thankfully I am not Obama and McCain who have to sit down and talk about this with him soon! |

Try $10,000. That is closer to the per capita debt of the US Federal government. I don't know about you, but I don't have that much available. Just the proposed bailout comes to more than $3,000 for every man, woman, and child in the US. |

First off, we're not in a depression. We are in a recession.
To answer your question: DO NOT get rid of our debt, it's actually keeping our economy alive. The debt is being financed by foreign countries and as long as they are willing to buy it, we are in good shape. We are a purchasing economy, meaning we buy goods from other countries. Since we are a purchasing country, we need to have debt. If we were a selling country, we would be in horrible shape.
I recommend picking up some finance books and doing some research of your own. Learn how the economy works, how interest rates work, and all of the taxes that government doesn't control that everyone thinks they do. |
