julia | If you didn't have to work to earn a living, would you feel guilty? |
or bored? aside from charity work, would you go stir crazy or enjoy it.
i think a lot of people would rather not work, given a choice, no?
or work for 5 to 10 years & retire! |

Just because they're not clocking in for their 9-5 job doesn't mean that a person can't function. They could just focus their attention on other things like family, their home, or just the scenary that they never had the chance to stop and appreciate before because they were so busy before in the past. It's like when I plan on winning the lottery jackpot, i'm going to spend my time travelling the world, experiencing the life I normally would not have had. I wouldn't feel guilty, I would feel fortunate. |

I don't work and sometimes I miss it. so I would say overall, I would want to work doing something. |

depends on how i'm getting my money then.
if it will hurt someone innocent in the process, then yes of course i'd feel guilty.
if it's basically a robin hood thing where i'm "robbing" the rich, then prob not.
i guess whether u have the money or not, what's important is to know what u want then just go for it. since u have plenty of time cos u don't work, then really, sky's the limit as to what u can do. having the money will likely help you get there faster and/or easier. |

I think I would have to have something productive to do with my time. It might be fun for a couple of months, but then I'd have to DO something. |

I would go nuts. I was unemployed for about a mth, and I felt worthless. I became so lazy. I though I would be able to do more stuff around the house, but after a week I just started slacking around. I actually do more when I'm pressed for time, like on the weekends.
It's not as good as it seems!! Keep working, pretend you're communist!!!!!!!!! |

Give me less work, more time for social events!!!
I won't feel guilty, because money is an evil crave,
and it'll affect many things including our relationships. |

I know several people who were born into great wealth and have spent their lives doing charity work of some sort. From volunteering to work for no pay to running a philanthropic institution for their monied parents, it's not uncommon for the rich to do this sort of thing.
I also know plenty of lazy kids with trust funds that play video games all day and make fun of those they think are beneath them. Never seen them a bit guilty.
There's people all over the spectrum. I like to think I'd be one of those that would spend their time helping others. |

I will surely enjoy it for atleast 6 months... I have been working for 15 years now and I need a break. But at the same time its important to be worthy of something so I would want work on things that I like.
The work accompanies boredom when you have to do what someone else says! If I can keep doing the work of my choice I will be happy!! |

You have partially answered your question. There are lazy people who would rather eat and sleep without sweating or using their brains as long they are provided free food and given money to spend without having a wee bit of guilt in them. The guilty feeling of depending on others is within us when we feel that going hungry is better, which then inspires us to do anything to earn a living. For that matter, even an invalid person would like to stand on his/her own feet. One should think about retirement only when their body and/or their mind cannot take the stress of working and when you have saved enough for retirement or if they are eligible for a pension. |

I wouldn't feel guilty. Id feel damn lucky though.
I think you would easily find stuff to do, just look at all those pointless rich people like Paris Hilton, they think they are working, but really they just have expensive hobbies like their recording albums and stuff.
If i could afford to not work, your damn right i would take the chance, its not as if we humans are meant to spend our lives working anyhow.
Watch TV, read books, write, play games, buy a dog, drink beer, life would be sweet. |

lilou

no. i would just have a lot more time on my hands to do what i really want to do. and if i would be that rich, i would help all my friends and family.
not having to work? that would be a dream come true. |

freedom of choice to do charity work: you take from society growing up then contribute part of it..donatingmoney is one way but sometimes, its not enough people even when there is enough money. |

well, a lot of people DON'T work. Sometimes it's easier, and better (depending on who you are). In the U.S. is better to be either too rich, or to poor. For instance, in NYC (and the whole U.S.), you get in a shelter, apply for housing or section 8, get Medicaid (which is the best insurance ever {the pay for almost everything}), you get Food Stamps, and of course!!! you can pretend that you have a mental illness and get SSI (disabilty). Believe it or not I know many people that do that and don't have to work, or they work off the books, and ride brand new cars, wear BLING BLING, the dress nice, and so on.
Of course for working people (like me) it's very tough. I'm in the middle class. I have to pay $300 in tax every week, I can't even afford my own house.
So, sometimes being a loser pays off. |
