It would depend on your company policy. Most companies do not let you take it once expired because they want you to take vacation to keep from burning out. But if you were working on an important project, I would try to negotiate with your HR. I had a case once with myself where I didn't take some vacation and ended up getting reimbursed for it. |

Each company sets its own policy in regard to unused vacation days. Ask the HR people where you work if the days are lost, are paid, or are carried forward. |

Every company is different. Look in the handbook. some companies allow you to roll them over, some pay and some say you snooze you lose |

Talk to someone in your HR department. This really varies from company to company and also sometimes varies on whether your an hourly employee or salaried.
For me (I'm salaried),if I don't take my vacation, it just gets rolled over into the next year. I only get my vacation pay if I take vacation or if I quit my job. If I quit, then I'll get whatever amount has accrued.
Our hourly employees don't need to take vacation to get their accrued vacation pay. They just need to request to have their accrued balance added to their next pay. But same for them, if they dont ask for it, it just stays there and keeps building up. |

You should check with your employer, because each company is different. |

Had an employee ask me the same question. It was december. She said okay I didnt take my 2 week vacation and I didnt take any sick days off. I said you are right you have 15 days. She said if I work do I get paid for it? I said hell no.
You only lose pay if you go over the 15 days. Take the rest of the month off. You wont get paid for it. This is company policy... I have no clue what country you live in. In the US its up to your contract. As one person said you snooze you lose. |

In California you do not lose vacation if you can not take it, within reason. It should be carried forward to the next year. A company may make a rule that the most an employee can accrue is two years worth of vacation, but even then if the employee can not take it, the company may have to pay it. |
|

When you quit, you get the value of your accrued vacation hours at your latest pay rate.
Note, many companies limit the total hours of vacation you can accrue before you get into a use-it-or-lose-it situation. However, this limit tends to be around 200 to 240 hours. |
