10800 pounds AFTER TAX a year and you had your own property(no,rent/no mortgage),no car (you would use public transport) would you be able to live decently?
take into consideration you are single and you need to pay for food and utilities.
where you come from could a single person live a decent life with that kind of budget? By decent i mean going out once or twice a week having a bit of a social life too.

No dont get a payday loan! Im down in plymouth and i earn that amount but i dont have my own house, i am single and i pay rent and bills and i still have an active, rather full social life with money to spare. try sticking to university towns where there are lots of cheap bars and lots of people who are friendly! |

Would you have to pay for anything that happens in the house i.e. what if the heating breaks down, smashed window etc... these can be quite expensive.
Utilities could also be quite expensive, food, gas, electric, travelling expenses, telephone landline and mobile, maybe internet access, TV Licence, Contents Insurance.
It sounds good the way you have asked the question but put it down in black and white with all your outgoings and it might not seem that good £207.00 per week will not go far.

OK, that's 900 pounds a month to spend on food, bills, and anything else. Flippin ek! You could easily live on this and still manage to save!! Even in London. A person's largest monthly costs is always their rent/mortgage. If you don't have to pay that, you're laughing! |

This has to be dependant on what you call decently? Figure it as £207.69 per week every week of the year. ( if you had the money upfront at the start of the year you could put it on deposit and a bit of interest - could be an additional 600 / 800 net)
I live alone in east anglia - and my food and utilities = £ 90 per week. So can you save for a holiday - go out and clothe yourself with the balance? Only you know that. Out of interest a lady has recently published a book on her year spent living on a pound a day after accounting for utilities and rent - sure if you googled ( or check BBC 2 radio website) you may pick up some tips.
On balance - seems a bit tight to me. |

A friend of mine is on £6,600 a year and she has to pay bills etc. You will be fine as long as you don't go beyond your means. I'd put some money aside each month for birthdays, xmas and holidays and live off the rest.
Also shop about for insurances, utility bills - you will be fine if you watch it! If you have a garden you could grow your own veg. I do, its great!

enough or not enough, it's really depend on you. Some ppl can make a living with a small amount of money, some not. So, if you think that would be enough, that's enough. You have to adjust your life style with your income. I'm from Indonesia, south east Asia. In my place, that sum of money still make a good decent living even after i divided by 2. |
