I would take it back because if you can take it to the bank, then the IRS would question you. Also spending it won't really work because the IRS would suspicious why you saving up all your monthly paycheck and still being able to pay rent. Trust me, you can't get away with 1 million dollars unless you distribute it among the people. Therefore you can't buy because the IRS is going to track you down and arrest you. So the only thing you can do is pretend you never saw the money and walk away. Telling the police will only make matters a hassle as you have to explain everything and if you make a mistake in telling your little story on how you encounter the money, you could be tried as making a false police report. |

I would honestly give it back because I have lost items in the past and some were returned and some were not. However, if it were not claimed, I would pay bills, buy me a house and a new car. Plus, I would buy my kids what ever they wanted. |

I'd give it back BUT if it was never claimed or anything then i'd pay off all our bills, take my family on a trip around the world, buy a laptop, buy a new phone, get us a new car and put the rest away for uni and my own car wen im older :) |

I would give it back... most likley they will give you a reward anways although idk why an elderly person or cripple or sick person woulda left 1 mill on the streets... the elderly prob dont have that much to be carrying it around.. and the sick and cripple wouldnt be out on the streets with a mill...uh duh |

Me, being someone with a very strong conscious, I would give it back. I wouldn't be able to live with myself knowing I had stolen money from someone.
But as soon as I found it, I would take it to the police anyways.
It's not like someone can lose that amount of money and not know. |

First of all , who on earth would carry around $1 million in cash in a duffel bag????
But to answer your question, I definitely would not turn it into the police - I have known of far too many dishonest cops.
It's funny you say what would you buy and why as if your only thought would be to keep it. Being $1 million , If I KNEW who it belonged to I would give it back - if it was like $100 I wouldn't even bother trying to give it back. It's a tricky question to answer if I didn't know who it belonged to because I would not trust the police to find who it belonged to and it's not like I could put a found ad in the paper and if I let it be known that I found it everyone would be coming out of the woodwork claiming that it is theirs. So if I had no idea who it belonged to I would probably just wait it out and put the money in a safe place for a reasonable amount of time to see if anyone was looking for it - maybe the person who lost it would go to the media and give details of the bag and the exact amount and the way it was wrapped that would make me KNOW it was theirs. |

i would of course give it back i wouldn't want someone keeping my money and when igave it back i of course would expect something but if not oh well at least i will be able to sleep at night knowing that its to the rightful owner |
