If I had 30-40 years, I'd park the money in the stock market.

$50,000 in each of 30 different companies that will probably still be around in 30 years.

do not invest or save, its just boring, i say you do this:

go to vegas (now it just sounds like its going down hill but its kinda smart)
during basketball season aka NBA during the first round of the playoffs
bet a large amount of the 1.5 million on the higher ranked seed but also, bet a little on the underdog so if they do lose you will get the money back you lost, but if you win, you can keep on betting or take the money and run
