Motor Nuerone Disease-there is not enough you can do for this rapidly wasting muscle disease. All proceeds go to scientists who are forever finding a cure. This is where the person cannot do anything and the nervous system gives up by way of not being able to send messages to parts of the body ie limbs first. Eventually they cannot speak (respiratory problems). That is the last part to go unfortunately..
It is frustrating as they are intelligent people.. |

I already donate to charity just like many other people on here I'm sure do, especially our local hospital and the British red cross. |

I do agree with your first answer I do give to the local radiotherapy unit and Marie curie, I also like to help out the local homeless with clothing, far too much goes on administration fees with other charities
Only 5p in the pound goes to cancer research the rest on the above |

I already support the Dogs Trust, RSPCA, PETA and RSPB. I don't give a lot, just a couple of pounds a month. I'd rather I donate the money to charity than spend it down the pub. |

I make regular charitable donations to world vision, I've done it for years, even when I had far to little money. I've never had too much but yes, I'm sure I would give a lot to charity. |

I don't have too much money... I could be a billionare and not have too much. With amount I DO HAVE I do give to charities.
Dogs for the Deaf
Toys for Tots
Local Food Shelf
I quit giving to ANY cancer foundations due to them simply blowing the money on advertising and pay office executives with
the funds raised. |

Having too much money is not the only reason to be charitable. |

I wouldn't donate to charity, instead I'd spend the money myself making a difference. I'd go out and find the people that needed help, and help them - that way I know that my money is making a real difference and not just lining some fat cats pockets. |

Most people know that monies donated to charities these days are dissipated in administration costs and very little gets through to those in need. In third world countries it is usually worse due to corruption. You would be far better off treating yourself to beautiful works of art or commissioning works from a genuine struggling artist. You could commission hand made pottery and glassware from small studios and give your existing house ware to a local charity shop. Personally I favour the RLNI for this sort of donation as it gets no government funding and is run throughout by volunteers. You could also consider offering scholarships for gifted children that do not have the resources to better themselves or operating a local musical school again for youngsters who would otherwise not find an opportunity for self expression |

Afraid I wouldn't - but I might do something myself for those less advantaged. Most charities pay more to directors / CEOs / fund raisers than they actually give to the needy - see Oxfam they give around 12% to the needy and the rest goes on adverts, packaging, wages, marketing. |
