I think the norm is £25 or £30 but it will depend on the individual bank. If you don't do it very often sometimes they will refund the fees. |

It varies with different banks.. most charge around £30.00. If you puposely write a cheque knowing that it will bounce... you can recieve a criminal record. |

I'm in the USA, and my bank charges about $36 or about £18.5. Robbery. It was about 1/5 of that when I got my first checkbook.
What galls me is that one mathematical error on YOUR part could result in four (or however many) bounced checks, each earning £18.5 (or whatever) for the bank.
It is true that sometimes an earnest plea and a good track record will get the fees reduced or even dropped. |
