First.. put it in a bank. Citibank is giving 5% interest on an E-money market acct.
Then start to think about how to invest it. No need to rush, take time and think. If you are young (below 40) you should consider 70% stocks and 30% mixed cash and bonds.

After tax. place the money in the Bank, and then start looking for a new house. Have an interior designer furnish it and move in. Then I would make the improvements on the House I am in now, and I would be either renting or selling it. Hoping that would be enough to cover the expenses, if not get a loan.
