Think Richlyâ„¢ | If you received an $800 tax rebate, how much of it will you spend on shopping? |
How much would you spend on paying off your credit cards, mortgage, rent, and car payments, including cost of fuel? Additional Details Correction; up to $600 for single filers, and up to $1200 for married, and additional if you have children.. |

I don't have much debt on my credit card so I wouldn't be spending it there. My Pickup is paid off so no car payment, however the $600 rebate could get me 5 1/2 tanks of gas into it.
The odds are that I will just put it away because the deeper you get into a recession, the harder it is to get by and it's going to get worse before it gets better.
By reading the other members answers, it doesn't look like very much of the rebate checks are going to be used to help stimulate the economy. Maybe they should target the lower income people for the rebates. They are a sure bet to put the rebate money right back into the economy. |

First off, its either 600 dollars or 1200 dollars, there is no 800 dollar rebate.
I won't be spending any of mine on shopping. I'd rather pay down my school loans and car payment. |

I would use 100% of it on credit card payments if you're being charged interest. Otherwise it would be 50/50 mortgage and car payment. |

I would try to put all of it into savings. If I couldn't do that, I would pay whatever bill that was due and put the remainder into saivings. |

Probably bills...my brother and I might split the cost of a cable bill so my parents can continue watching TV after they do away with analog (and my parents should really have cable...three channels is insane in this day and age).
Depressing subject, overall, I wasn't expecting the caps to change either or I would have had more money taken out of my check. At least I don't owe. That's something I guess. |

none on 'spending'
all on debt reduction earning me 6 -29% return on investment/money.
the poor and under educated will spend it on 'junk' |

I haven't decided, but I know the smart thing for me would be to put it in savings.
The problem with this whole idea is this: They're counting on us going out and spending this money to boost the economy. That's all well and good, but somehow they've forgotten that over 90% of all the items people usually go out and buy with extra money - electronics, clothes, etc. - are IMPORTED products. Unless every American receives the rebate and spends it on domestic, Made in the USA, goods, it's only going to serve to boost the economies of foreign countries....namely China. |

I would spend none of it on shopping. |

Whatever the amount we shall receive, in order to stimulate the U.S. economy, we should pay off high interest credit cards, save a few dollars for the rainy day fund, and then buy anything and everything made in the U.S.A..(look on the bottom of the item), if it is not made in the U.S. Forget about it.
Before going to Walmart and spending the whole tax rebate, most items that will be bought are foreign made, so how does that help the U.S. economy to be stimulated? |

all of it!! since I already used my tax returns to pay off some loans i had....that leaves the rebate free to spend!! yay!! lol |

I would spend all of it on Porn probably, the nation is f*cked anyhoo so it would be an appropriate symbolic use of the money. |

If I got an $800 bonus from work, I wouldn't spend it frivolously, so I probably wouldn't do so with a tax rebate, either. It kind of defeats the purpose of economic stimulus, so I don't like the rebate idea from that standpoint (I'd still accept it, though). |

$800 straight into savings. (Or maybe into the market depending on how things go.) |
