I know for a fact that Halifax cash machines will suck it back in.
I once withdrew £40 and because i was too busy chatting, walked away without picking it up.
I checked my balance a few days later and I was not down £40 !
My next statement had a £40 credit directly below the withdrawal... |

It probably gets nicked.
However if your lucky (as I have been) then the machine takes it back and cancels the transaction |

Might sound stupid, but which cash machine do you use and when . . I might just have to be behind you in the queue |

If you'd be so kind, which ATM do you regularly use? |

the next person usually smiles when they get to the machine. |

the machine sucks it back in |

I would have to assume that it is set up the same as if you left your ATM card in the machine and take the money back into the machine if it not taken after so many minutes. I'm not sure, call the bank and ask them. |

um i would think that then next person in line would get the cash and your card. I have never done this...so I really dont know |

I'd say the next person in line gets your money |

It just stays there until the next person shows up. Hopefully, they'll turn it back in. |

I guess the next person would take it! |

you lose it, and the next person gains |

It goes back inside and then you have to tell the bank what a tool you have been for not removing it. |

Most likely the next person gets it. And also most likely, the person leaving it behind has lost it for good.

it stays there for the lucky person behind you in the queue or a passer by spots it. |

Had the machine suck it back in once when I put my card away and grabbed the receipt first. Of course that was on a weekend. The bank cleared it up on Monday. Now the machine I generally go to gives the money out after the card is retrieved with a reminder to take the cash. (not because of me) |

then next time you should probably take a TRUSTWORTHY friend to remind you to pick it up! cuz i know for a fact, u'l never see it again im afraid... luckily i've only been in that situation where im the next to use the machine... wont tell you what happened as my chances of being picked as your fave answer will go thru the window... :( !!!! kel x |

Consider it a gift to the next person who uses the machine. It's good as gone. |

I believe that after a certain amount of time it takes it back into the machine, but I'm not sure. Your bank could tell you. Obviously anybody could take it before then, but how can you miss that bleeping noise those things make telling you to take the stuff, it always seems to make me panic!!! |

It is recredited to your account. |

The machine will take it back in within so many seconds and recredit your account. unless the next person grabs it if their is a Q or some one walking by. Try it I dare you!!!!! |

A little man in the machine says to him/or herself oh dear gez p has not taken his money I better take it back in put some interest on it and return it to his account and the birds will sing the sun will shine and God will smile and say everything is well in my heaven |

The bank will probably lie to you and imply that the money would be taken back and the transaction cancelled. But in reality - the next user will get your money. |

This actually happened to me once. I hesitated for too long when chatting to a friend. The money simply got taken back into the machine an the money was recredited to my account two days later. |
