If you use a credit card and never make payments on it when the bill comes, does the bill go away after 7 yrs?

If you do that, other people will not lend you money. Your credit use is reported to bureaus by the banks and other lenders, and they all share the information.

The only people who might lend to you after you stop paying are those places that charge so much interest you can never get caught up.

Filing bankruptcy is much much harder than it used to be.

Besides, it's stealing. You got someone's stuff, and they didn't get your money. That's immoral and illegal.

Your credit history is precious. It can change your life. Be careful with it.

What makes you think you won't be hassled out of your mind within 30 days after skipping the first payment? These places will hunt you and track you down and make your life hell.

That's the long answer. The short answer is no.

Tuggamamma
you could claim identity theft if you never made a payment but most likely they will try to go back on security videos to see who used it.

they will never let you go 7 years with out paying you will be sued for wage garnishment.

unless you file bankruptcy

The bill will not go away but you will for fraud.

No........it will haunt you forever

No, the collectors get you first. The only way the bill will 'go away' is if you file for bankruptcy

jk
DO NOT use a credit card with the intent of never paying it off they will find you and get their money trust me

CE
The short answer is no, it does not.

The long answer is that it will no longer appear on your credit report, but you will still owe the money. And, long before the seven years has elapsed, credit card companies can get the money using other means. They go to court and get a judgment against you. This allows them to do one of several things, from simply taking the money directly from your bank account, garnishing your wages, or even placing a lien on your vehicle or house. So, it is best either to just pay off the credit card, or even better to not get one at all.

where did you hear that? that's a terrible way to try and do things. no that doesn't work, if you can't pay the bill, dont' get a credit card, it'll screw up your finances

JM
it stays open on your credit until it's paid or the company agrees to settle (which even when they settle, they only agree to take a smaller amount, you still have to pay something and this is IF they even settle which it usually takes years to offer a settle anyways). it takes 7 years to fall off your credit once the account is closed.

If the amount is pretty substantial the credit card company could tap into your tax returns if they go that route. The 7 year thing starts when they actually close the account, which is when they stop sending you bills and if you dont get any collections people contacting you about it.
