I would buy a nice 4 bed house with garden, a soft-top either a Audi A4 or VW Golf, then if there is enough left a big caravan for some great holidays and road trips. Then a decent-sized car to tow it.....either a Volvo estate or Land Rover |

my cars would be on the drive - don't do garages! i'd have a vw new beetle, a vw split screen old camper, a nice BM or audi for family days out.
my house would be a large old house but done nice and modern inside, about 5 bedrooms would do, a couple en-suite, i need an office as i work from home, a pool would be great, and i'd want some outdoor covered space like a bit of a terrace for sitting on in an evening with a glass of wine. my daughters room would be massive and done all lilac and white, i'd have a massive walk in shower and a bath sunken into the floor.
i'd have loads of garden, maybe a field, for my daughter to play in. and i'd be located near to a town/village centre so we could walk to local shops etc and near to the east coast/anglia would be nice
think that's about all i can think of so late at night! |

Where I've just moved to (and much to my shock) one million quid wouldn't buy you one garage let alone five and the houses aren't even nice.
However, even if I could afford a mansion I wouldn't buy it.
Firstly, my main criteria is a dark sky (I'm an astronomer), secondly, it would have to feel like home.
Finally, I would want to like the people I lived with or near so I wouldn't buy a house within a million years of jumped up people who have nothing better to do than get their nails done. I would rather spend the money buying a house among real people who I could have a laugh with and who weren't afraid to sing when drunk just because their boss might hear them. |

Modest 3/4 bedroom period property close to a city, but in the country. Lovely kitchen, great shower, big, no big bed, comfy sofa and a green-tastic garden (herb, vegetable and wildlife forna and flora).
Car? hey my partner and I have two cars (I know not very green - although I try to minimise use) and I like the old banger, character and more driving skills required. So probably something cheese, something from the eighties... a white convertible golf or an electric blue escort convertible!!! And a nice motorbike with big fat wheels.

I would buy the house next door that would help with my mother we could knock a door way through to hers then she would have a toilet upstairs and downstairs my mothers house is next door but one I would have a big house then, I would buy a sports car for my husband and send my husband back to collage so he could become a solicitor he has a degree and would have been now if he had the money to finish his exams he is a legal exec now and help my daughters to get their homes sorted too why would I want 5 cars |
