I was thinking that If you won say $100 Million on the lottery (like the European one are doing) wouldn't you be the target of gangsters, or your family be the target of kidnappers? If I won a huge amount I think I would keep my identity secret for aslong as possible to prevent things like this and other people trying to prey on you for your money, whether that be gangsters or beggers with sob stories. |

Yes, but the lottery commissions want to put you on the news and everything. They want you for advertising. You would have no chance of keeping it secret. |

No, and I don't think it would be possible anyway. One of the terms is that the names of winners are published - especially for large prizes. |

Yes I'd keep it a secret but not out of selfishness but rather out of preservation. People catch wind of you coming into some money and all of a sudden you have a million "cousins" that you've never even heard of.

I would not tell anyone! I would go stay in a hotel in a different state...I would get in touch with parents, and tell them why and were i am at ..and tell them to also keep it a secret!! then when everything is settled i would come back around..... |

I don't know if you can remain anonymous. Otherwise I wouldn't hear stories how people get hundreds of letters a day asking for money. I think it is public record. But yes...I would try to keep it as secret as possible. I don't think you would be the target of gangsters...there are a lot of millionaires and billionaires out there! |
