If your bank account is upgraded without your permission and charge you 13quid a month? What should I do?

Definitely complain, but be careful how you go about it. Remember that the people who work in the bank most likely aren't responsible for it and it was probably a computer that 'selected' you for an upgrade. Try and play it cool, but assertive.

Unfortunately, banks have a nasty habit of telling you that they are going to do these things in a sneaky way and it's entirely possible that somewhere, somehow, you unwittingly agreed to this. Therefore, being nice to the person you speak to is a smart way to get what you want (your money back) - rub them up the wrong way and you'll get nothing.

From experience, if you ball-out a person in a bank and then threaten to take your business elsewhere, they will be more than happy for you to do so (and then you'll never get your money back).

Complain and ask to be reminbursed for the extra money you've forked out for a service you did not authorise or want!!

complain and ask for the money back.

Close the account and move to a free account with another provider. Meantime kick up a stink. Make sure you follow the complaints process outlined on their website. Then, if you don't get the answer you want, write to the chief exec (you will find their details in the corporate info. section of their website). If no joy there, you might want to consider the financial ombudsman as a last resort.

First take it up with the Bank Manager and if that proves fruitless, threaten them with the Banking Ombudsmen. If they still won't do anything .. GO to the Ombudsman.

Write to them and tell them you did not agree to this and to return any money taken immediately.

Contact the Banking Ombudsman if they do not return it within 14 days.

Call them and tell them to change it back. If they won't, then threaten to close the account.

Complain to the bank and if that gets you nowhere complain to the banking ombudsman.
The contract you originally signed will state that they can upgrade your account at any time but the practice is highly dubious and frowned upon.

Call the bank and fix it. You should have been asked or notified.

Go immediately to your bank and tell them you do not want their upgrade. Tell them if they do not return your account to it's original state you wish to withdraw immediately and will deposit elsewhere.

it depends how it came about

if you are with the bank im with ans u had a student account, its then upgraded to a graduate account after a year of being a graduate it is changed to the equvilent current account witch is an account with a chg attached

if you had a normal current account and they upgraded then they they need to downgrad it as you have not signed the authority

ask to raise it as a concern. also as they have upgraded without authority they need to refund the monthly fee for however long you have been paying it,

vickiebeeeeeeeeeee
go on to a website called fool.co.uk in the search engine type bank chgarges all the information is there. you can then start proceedings against your bank and get back every penny that they have charged you

tell them they are wrong and to return your account to its original status, and deduct any charges.

wishuponstarson
Go to the bank and talk to them about it. If you don't like what they say take your money else where. Remember it is YOUR money not THEIRS!

Change to another bank and you will save more than you have lost.

groomingdiva_pgh
Cancel the account and find a more reasonable bank.
