My debt is quite resonable though its really begining to overwhelm me, want to move at the moment and just cant get any money together at all, sometimes i can barely afford to get to work because of it and we all know what would happen then.

Ive been in the same situation myself recently,

Im out of debt now, but its about hoarding as much cash as possible to get yourself a start.

Try part time jobs, Car boot sales, overtime... anything you can... Eat cheaply, Go out less, try catalogue sales work in the evenings.

You will get there in the end!!

If you are a home owner try and re-mortgage. This should settle most if not allof your debt if you do it right. Once you have done this destroy all credit cards & store cards and only buy things with cash that you have saved. I did this about 6 months back and have not looked back since :0)

Poor financial health is the plague of the 21st century. Why? Because NOT ONE of us were ever taught in school how to effectively manage our money, or our time! This has caused snowballing debt, bankruptcies, business failures, divorces in record numbers and it has destroyed the retirement dreams of millions.

first thing...put the credit cards away...or better yet, destroy them. Then, pay off the highest interest rate debt first, paying minimums on the rest. When that debt is paid off, use those funds and add them to the minimum of the next debt...and so on.

get rid of your credit cards. start managing your money, divide them into sections, start making lists on your priorities(if you know what you really need you wont have any debts, trust me)

well, when I was on debt, I started to work extra, you know find myself some money, by making some business, anything you can think of. then I really really put my best to not spending money on things I dont need. and........ I got it all worked out. I am now, well almost debt free....

after that I think we should try to balance our expenses with the amount of money we actually have.(well, not that I am saying I know about what I am talking about)

good luck!lets fight!

DO LIKE I DO DEPENDING ON HOW MANY CREDIT CARDS YOU HAVE I HAVE STARTED PAYING MINIUMUN ON THE LOW INTEREST AND PAYING HIGHER ON THE HIGH INTEREST ONE TO GET THEM PAID OFF AND WHEN YOU HAVE THEM PAID OFF PUT THEM IN AN AT HOME SECURITY BOX AND HIDE THE KEY..LOL..

Paying more on high interest debt first is a good idea, as is most of these answers. But, you may also need to consider what can be paid off quickest and what has the highest payment. If you can get rid of a payment in a few months, even if it is the lowest interest, it might be more helpful in the long run to free that money up to put on your other debt. Good luck.

There are ways of getting the debts amalgamated so that you are able to survive and pay back as well,it might be worth talking to your bank explain the situation and they might be able to help.

As mentioned you are struggling to get to work this is a really worry that must be solved because to loose the job well then things get worse.

Have you mentioned it to family or close friends as they could have ideas once they have calmed down.
Moving might have to wait until later on, what about working out a budget sounds grim but can be a good exercise.

Good Luck and I hope things will work out.

Plan on being debt free. Destroy the credit cards. Put all on hold, get an emergency fund of $1000.00. Take a second job, agressively pay off debt. Smallest to largest. I'ts called teh debt snowball. Enroll in Financial Peace University. Get your life under control with the assistance of a millionaire who lost everything and became a millionaire again.

I recomend credit counseling, they sit down with you and go through your bills. Some companies pay most of your debt off, and then you just pay the credit agency a monthly fee. Here's a really good website.

Start selling all of the stuff that you bought and didn't need on ebay.com and then take the money and pay off your bills. Then the last thing is to stop shopping and spend what you can afford. Also, I highly reccomend reading the book "The Millionaire Next Door" Easy reading and tremendously helpful. Read it twice to soak it in. Good Luck!

get in touch with all the companies you owe money to and work out a manageable repayment plan. Don't consolidate with a loan. Negoitate for the best rate with each one and try to get interest frozen. They want their money back so they'll negotiate. Make a budget and try to stick to it day by day. Only you can get a grip.

if your that worried and would like a light at the end of your tunnel go to citizens advice and make an appointment with their financial advisor the service is free and they make budget plans and even get in touch with your creditors they can lower your payments and by llaw are allowed to offer your creditors a little a £1 per month repayments honestly i was in the same boat they helped me and you dont have no contact with your creditors makes life alot more bearable

arronwrath
Use debt free direct. They can set you debt in just 60 months. I can't remember the phone number but on TV you've probably seen the ad.

First, completely stop spending money on anything extra. Take the bus to work or ride a bike. I had a terrible debt problem with credit cards and student loans. I had to quit smoking and cut coffee, anything that I didn't have to have to live. I am still in debt but am slowly pulling out. All my money goes to bills, period. I also had to leave a job i really enjoyed to get a higher paying one. It is all about sacrifices.

Being in debt is like being over weight and diets are not the answer! You need to change your attitude to money and see the real value of it as your security for the future not something to spend now!
If your fat then you should eat a balenced diet , take moderate execise and have more respect for yourself.
If your in debt you should have balenced finances,(keep some for bills, put some away for savings, pay off some debt and keep a little to spend on yourself for treats but not to excess!) and have more respect for your money and your long term future. Good Luck!
