Let's see, you've got no real experience, you're 17, and you're making more than minimum wage doing a job that just about anyone could do. And you're wondering whether you should accuse your boss of being unfair? No, I think you are being "unfair" to him. You should work for much less than that, based upon your experience and knowledge.
I don't get what could possibly be "unfair" about the wage that someone offers that you have accepted. If it isn't as much as you think you're worth, then you should leave. If nobody is willing to work for that price, then he'll have to increase the wages. But there's nothing "unfair" about any wage. If someone offered you $6 per hour, that wouldn't be unfair either. Any more than someone offering you $450 per hour. Get over it. |

Let's see, compared to the current minimum wage of the US, which most employees your age earn, I'd say that's a pretty decent wage.
I know that GameStop or FYE clerks make just barely above minimum wage and have a good deal of responsibility sometimes.
Now as far as fairness is determined at your job, if you're getting paid significantly less than your co-worker who has the same responsibilities and produces the same results as you, then I'd say that is not fair and you should politely ask for a raise. |

Yes, that is pretty much the going starting pay. I worked at a grocery store for 12 years before I got up to $8.15 an hour. Of course, that was about 25 years ago. |

There are several factors such as where you live, what kind of store you are working at....but yes, that sounds about fair for a cashier. Check out payscale.com. It has salaries for different locations and jobs. It may help answer your question. :) |
