A few places may take a small amount of change, but by and large no. Get some exchanged before your trip because it's usually cheaper. Then, once you get here and if you find you need more money, you can go to a bank that offers exchange (most airports too). |

No, you will need to exchange for US dollars. You MIGHT find some people willing to take Canadian money, but that would be the exception. |

It is pretty much the same value, but I think when I visited Canada I got a few extra cents for my buck. No, you can't use Canadian money in the states but sometimes I have noticed it ciculating by accident. |

your premise is false |

No, you better exchange it for American money |

there are plenty of canadian quarters, dimes, nickels, and pennies floating around here in the US, but no loonies, double loonies, or anything else. Just exchange you money at the duty free shops they have on the boarders, they have currency exchanges. If you're flying, I'm pretty sure many airports do it too. |

Just curious... how many people are out just to get the 10 points? Personally, I'd want an answer cause someone wants to give me good advice, and not someone who just wants points. Sorry -- I just find that odd.
ANYWAY... they are close to being worth the same, at the moment. But despite that, it doesn't mean businesses will take it. It's been many years, but when we went to Canada, they would take U.S. dollars and give change back in Canadian, and knew the exchange rates. (Being a kid and not understanding this, I thought it was cool they were giving us more money back. LOL.)
But... I doubt very many business here would actually know exchange rates, except maybe near the border if they're used to it. They'll take the coins cause they probably won't notice -- but machines might have trouble with them. |

You are safer converting Canadian dollars to US dollars if you are traveling in the states. There are many places which will not accept Canadian dollars or any foreign money. The opposite is true of American Dollars. We had no problem in Canada, Mexico, Bermuda, or the carribean. |

last i checked<---not being smart mouthed, but really the last i knew of canadian $ and US $ was not worth the same so go ahead and exchange it cuz u will rarely find businesses or etc that will except the money |

A Big no on this one. If you're coming to the States, you'll need to use American dollars. The Canadian dollar is worth a little bit less than the American dollar.
The only place I've been in the U.S. that accepts Canadian money and gives you a 1 to 1 exchange is the casino in Grand Portage, Minnesota. (And that's cause they want you to gamble, so it's no real loss to them) (^_^)
If you can't find an American quarter while you're down here, you might be able to get away with slipping one with the Queen's head on it, but other than that, it's a no-go.
If you need to get cash using an ATM card, it's pretty easy, but for every $20 you withdraw here, it'll show that it costs a bit more from your account when you get home. So either use an ATM card with a Visa logo or exchange your cash at a currency exchange site. |

Now Canadian money is worth slightly more than American. $1.00 US = $0.99 CAN . So if Canadian money is the same or worth more than American money shouldn't you be able to use Canadian money in the USA? |
