Try to negotiate a lower price for the car.
If, I assume you are paying with cash, you should always try to pay less than the asking price. Look at the car and point out any faults to get a reduction. Make a lower offer and stand your ground, remember, the seller wants rid of the car as well.

well the decision is up to you. but have you tried Friday Ad newspaper/online. this has some wicked bargins in there about cars. i have bought a few cars from there and they have been fine. and they are cheap if thats what you want.

Cars just take all your money these days- do you really need it now? If you put some money away each month- maybe you could buy one at a later date. A cheaper car is not always a better idea as you may end up paying loads on repairs and maintenance and then couldn't resell it. You may be better off looking to buy a new car on 0% finance as they will have a warranty etc and you can easily sell it on.
Take a breather- if you need it urgently for work, then fair enough, but if it's just for recreation and socialising- maybe hold off buying it for a while. Also, when you go to buy a car, is there anyone you can take with you that has a good idea of mechanics etc- so you don't get ripped off. They can spot a better bargain. |

1,200 is cheap for a car. You really need a reliable vehicle to get around.
But check the actual value of the car, have it inspected, and make a lower offer..
Check everything on the car, write down every thing that is wrong, and use that to justify a lower price.
say 800, and maybe, if the car is worth it, let them talk you up to 1,000....
Be prepared to walk away, but walk very slowly, the seller wants to sell it more than you want to buy it.
FYI: With cars that cheap, it is a great idea to have all new brakes installed after you purchase it. No matter what they say. So factor in that expense.
Also, you will always find a better deal if you shop around. Shop at used car dealers near the end of the month, when they are desperate to fill their quotas, also, if it has been raining for a few days, business is poor for them, and they are even more desperate for a sale.
Check car reviews and bluebook and edmonds values in advance, so you do not over pay.
Plan to spend the entire day shopping and negociating, talking them down in price. Always offer a price at least 20% less than they are asking. |

1200 is not a bad buy for a car, depending on what it is like? if you think you can save a little longer then do so, if you need it to earn money then you must get a car to pay for it. you can ask an insurance company to give you a quote, petrol is pricey but there is no getting away from that |

Find out what the insurance is going to cost, the fuel you will use etc...
I.e. what is your budget and what will the approx cost be, then you know if you will get into debt or not. simple. |

if you really need it then you will have to get it if you cant afford to run it then you will have to get a little part time job to help with the costs its that simple what ever you do goodluck and take no notice of the 12 year old no wisdom kid. |
