Indian Customer service centres. Comments Please.?
I have to on occasion call my Bank (Lloyds TSB)I am constantly repeating and having to rephrase myself in order for the staff to understand me. I don't think this is acceptable customer service from such a large prestigeous company.

I work in financial services, I have occasion to call various insurance companies, investment houses and banks.
I have spoken to people in Indian, I have to tell you I have had problems. It is scripted stuff.
But i have found that people from various locations prove to be EQUALLY useless. Singling out Indians is too much of a complement to everyone else.
Customer service from UK companies is lacking, even when outsourcing to other countries.
If you want to blame someone look further up the food chain, they are taking their orders from total idiots!!!

It is difficult to communicate, isn't it? It's frustrating.

Its an absolute friggin joke this is, sending all the work to India to up size profits. with us customers being so pissed off at this, companies must surely realise that they will have a better return on investment over the long run by keeping work in the uk , than putting up shop in India and then pulling the plug on it when customers leave. do some research ole chap on UK based call centres, there's hardly any left. in banking there's only like natwest left. and they all have stupid names like Kylie and George when they are actually kulvinder and joginder

does birmingham & Bradford ones count?

Yes this happened to me a couple of months ago, I had to repeat myself about 5 times and I was getting very flustered and annoyed and I was on the phone to her for about 15 mins, I asked her my query and she didn't understand what I was trying to say so in the end I said just forget it and went into the bank itself, no its not very acceptable at all.

change your bank...do you trust these people in a far off distant land with your account details which they have access to?

I am an indian and do get calls from Indian call centres and I even have difficulties in understanding them and rephrasing many things.....so I opted for telephone preference service, which you register yourself online, and you dont get junk calls.

just a minor point, but i recently spent a few months working in a call centre in london (no names its too embaressing!) and I was the only british born person there! Apart from the top managers, of course.
So it doesn't matter where it is based.

until the call centres start paying a good wage they will have to use the employees that apply for the poorly paid position.

And speaking as an ex call centre agent, you are damn lucky the ca;ll centre isn't in Glasgow, because you would have no idea what questions they were asking you!

I totally agree - I used to work for them & my job went to India - the only suggestion I have is do you banking on-line. If you do need to phone then insist your call is transferred to your branch, they will say they can't but they have to if you complain. Good luck

Only companies who dont care about Customer service transfer it over to India.

Those Clowns are 100% screipted and have 0 power to do anything Special except politely tell you to bite it. Any company who does that gets 0% of my money if I vcan help it.

We've all experienced them with varying levels of satisfaction. My own experiences have thrown up the following:-
1. They don't have any knowledge of British geography, so don't know that it might be hard for me to pick up a package in London when I live in Aberdeen.
2. If they can't satisfy your query they circularise the problem - that is they just don't answer it.
3. These two major problems are NOT their fault. They work within the strict constraints of their employers, whether it's your "local" bank or a multinational. Whatever the frustrations, they are not the fault of the person you, or I, am speaking to (he/she is just trying to make a crust, and is, incidentally, and by British standards, almost certainly very highly qualified). Hold the bosses (penny pinching executives in this country) to blame.

I personally have to agree, I work for a large healthcare administrator and I have to take calls from Peter and Dave and Sue and Peggy and I honestly have to pray that I will not blow a major gasket while on the phone with them.. I it frustrating to know that medical providers have to take jobs away from American citizens and out source to India.. I feel like we should keep our JOBS in America!!!!!!!

I would put the phone down and do all banking on-line,in person or by post...all three methods work and are much less stressful.
