It would depend on your standard of living and the location, you might struggle in central London and parts of the south east but yes, generally, you could live on that quite easily. |

Is the question 2000 pounds per month as wages before tax? If it is you need to take off around 35% wich will leave you with 1300 pounds, then you have to rent somewhere for say 500 that leaves you with 800, food per week 80 thats 320 per month leaving you with 980 for other things. So yes it is enough but your not going to live the high life in England on that sort of money. Also if you are not paying tax and this is earnings and if you get caught you are in for big problems. If you are not from the UK and come and work in the UK you could be paying super tax at 45%. So look into where you are going to live and how you are going to be paid. |

sure it is, thats well enough most people with average jobs only bring in a grand.
rent a month for a decent house or flat will be about 500 a month
food a month just say 150
gas and electric just say 80 a month. they are the main things
so thats 730 a month and your left with £1270 a month |

Yes! It depends to an extent what you mean by £2,000, but anyway you can still live of it. By which I mean:
* If after deductions (tax, national insurance) you are getting 2,000 - this is equivilent to about a £33k job - which is certainly a reasonable salary.
* If this is before deductions (£24k salary) you will actually only see about £1500 a month.
Either figure is plenty to live off - but obviously there it is possibly hugely different depending on your lifestyle and outgoings. Are you in London (if so its much more expensive). Are you renting or buying (look at www.rightmove.co.uk for an indication of prices). You will probably also need to pay council tax (depends on where you live - but expect at least £70 a month) as well as normal bills. |

That depends where you come from. If you would come from a really wealthy country like India and you live there like a serious business man, it might not be enough.
I give you one example: in India you are used to pay your house staff around 150 to 200 US$ a month. If you want to keep 3 or 4 people as house staff in Britain, 2000 UK pound will not leave you very much.
You see: it all depends on what you want.
I give you one star for this brilliant question. We need more like this!
Have a nice day. |
