That's an incredible salary. Most college students are happy to find a job that pays $30,000 a year, and I imagine most middle-aged Americans earn somewhere between $40,000 to $65,000 a year.
If you or a relative you know is earning that kind of money, be sure to see a financial planner and invest it! |

Medical school is reeeaaalllly expensive, love. And salaries like that don't come right away (not until you're in your late 30s, likely). You'll have a number of years of residency before you "get a real job," and unless you, your husband, or your parents have saved huge amounts of cash to pay for your studies, your student loans will be eating up a healthy chunk of your pay for quite some time. But good luck to you in the mean time... |

Of course, $200,000 is a good salary for someone who is 30 years old. It's a good salary for someone who is 50 years old.
Why do I say this? According to the US Census Bureau the median annual was determined to be $46,326 in 2005. Obvoiusly since $200,000 is more than 4 times the median household salary, I would say it is pretty good. |

Are you posting this question to make eveyone else feel broke. YES 200,000 is a great salary. How do you not KNOW THAT IS NOT A GOOD SALARY and make that much money. Im exagerating about it but its still a huge amount |

I get the idea you are nowhere near 30 and make nowhere near 200k. Everybody thinks they will make that much or more when they are young. Almost nobody ever does. You should learn now to be more realistic. If you don't you could end up like the many people I've known who wasted their lives dreaming and scheming for a big payday that will never come. While foregoing what is attainable. A decent job, living below your means and investing a bit of each paycheck.
That's the sure road to prosperity. That's the wise road to take. |

Key words here: "going to be a doctor" Doctors can earn some incredible salaries, if they get a good position and maintain high enough performance to avoid huge malpractice insurance bills. It would be a good salary, but it isn't as simple as you think. |
