That's really high and not looking for deals. I would look to spend for TWO people nothing over 350 a month. Unless you are buying premium items. At any rate I would be living it up at 650 for two people.

That is a lot. I would say around $300-$400 would be a better spending. |

First off, you need to state like where you live because the standard of living in your area plays a lot on answering the question.
For example, Person A lives in the deep south of AL and their monthly income is only $2,000. That number is average for that area. But Person B lives in NYC and their income is $7,000.
Your grocery budget should only be 10-20% of your monthly income depending on your family size. |

It is more than decent, it is more like decadent. You guys must be eating high on the hog, so to speak.
If you can afford it, then fine. Although with a little adjustment in your menu, you could save a fair amount of money.
Good luck |

It should be more like $500.00 a month. Because I have three in my family and it`s that much. |

That is how much I spend on my mortgage.
Between my wife and I, we spend about $400 a month.
on groceries and toiletries. |

If you dine on lobster, filet mignon and caviar. There should be no reason to exceed $100 a week for two people unless you really go all out. There are families out there that don't even earn $650 a month to pay mortgage, utilities, and food so you can certainly cut back on what you're splurging on and put the rest into a long term savings. Consider having hot dogs for one meal, oatmeal and fruits for breakfasts, etc. Just because you have an amount in your budget doesn't mean you have to spend it all. Use coupons when you can. Freeze leftovers. If you live below your means you will have more money available when you need it. |

That is a pretty slim budget - especially if you live in a major city, but you could do it w/ sales, coupons & generic named goods. Just be careful not to fill up on "macaroni & cheese" and high sodium canned soups. You'll be $ savy, but as big as a house.
If you stock up on cooking basics (flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and seasonings, etc.) you will also save more money by buying things and making them from scratch, rather than buying a lot of frozen/prepackaged goods.
Also, buy in bulk and don't forget your fruits and veggies ;) |

$650.00 a month on groceries is more than decent. It is actually a bit extreme unless you dine on cavier and such almost every week. If, you are like most individuals who prefer homemade cooking...then your grocery total should run you about 300$. And if you are women, you are looking at 400$ a month. Shop wisely. |

As most of the people stated that is high for two people in my opinion. You must eat well and never have leftovers. |

well that depends on where you live as well, if it's L.A., NYC, or SF then maybe, if it's the midwest or south then probably that is a bit steep. |

Its kind of a lot... my household spends $100-150 a week for three people, so its about $500 for a month.
Unless you're including clothing, hardware-- things not grocery. |
