It is more than DOUBLE the median household income in the US. If you can't live on $85,000, the problem is your spending, not your income. I make less than $30,000 and get by OK. |

Long story short, if you can live comfortably on whatever you make, you're doing good. |

That will support a pretty decent life style in most parts of the US. Exception: New York City, and the San Francisco Bay area. You will be adequately comfortable there, but not what one might call well off. |
