Rthur | Is it a bad idea to tell someone your BankName, Account#, BankAdress, Beneficiarys, SwiftCode & Passport info? |
I got an email from saying that I had been randomly chosen and won money. It said to reply with some basic information about me such as my name, phone number, address, etc. I did that and now they are asking for the following:
(1) Bank Name: ……………
(2) Bank Address: ………..
(3) Bank Account Number: ………..
(4) Beneficiary’s: ……………
(5) Swift Code: ………………………
(6) A scan copy of your country passport:
They claim that the money paid as a transfer from another bank and therefore I would need to supply them with this information. I'm a little skeptical about this. I don't mind much if my information is public when it comes to basic information but I also don't want people stealing money from me. |

Scam...................send them nothing.
Reply to the e mail and let them know you have reported them to the FBI. Make sure the FBI e mail address is visible and do infact forward the e mail to the FBI........... |

DO NOT give out that information!!! they'll steal your money/identity etc!
no matter who they are or what they say, DONT do it |

There are still people who fall for this scams? Good lord, I always wondered why they still send their things to my account.
Well, NO, you should NOT give your information, unless you want to support them of course.
As for the guy who said to report this to the FBI - most likely this was sent from a botnet, and the adress is fake anyway. |
|

I would advice not doing this they will most likely scam you so to be safe i would not. |

They are totally scamming you, they obviously want to steal your identity. This is classic identity fraud don't do it! Also, it might be a good idea to report the people that sent you the email, so that they can be investigated. |

YES!!!!!!! Whoa, definitely a scam!!! |

Trust your instincts.
You had enough suspicion to ask it here; so follow that suspicion. It's a scam. |

You're kidding, right? This is clearly an email scam. Stop giving them your info ASAP.
If you want to verify that the email is bogus, try asking them for as much info about them as they're getting from you (their company, their name, the nature of the contest, the method of payment, etc.). They'll shut up pretty quickly, I guarantee it. |

Don't do it! Definitely a scam. |

SCAM...do not EVER send such information via email to someone you do not know (it's dangerous enough sending it to someone you do know).
I hope your post is a joke, but if not then please wise up and learn that such scams are common and you could end up losing money or your identity. |

Anytime somebody says they have money to give you for absolutely no reason, think... WHY! There is no such thing as free money. The only way to accept free money is if somebody is standing in front of you with cash or a check!!!! If they need your info, how were you randomly chosen? You could reply to them that if you really won they could send the money to you via money order (now that they have your name and address), because you do not have a bank account, if no response they are scammers and should be reported! People who try to rob somebody this way make me ill! |
|

This is a Scam that should be reported to authorities... NEVER give out this information unless you want to be ripped off and have your identity stolen |

 |
Don't feel bad for asking this. I know a lot of people do fall for this scam and well I'm sorry to say but that is exactly what it is. Your identity is only YOURS, it shouldn't be given around lightly. I wouldn't suggest you doing this. |
|

Please dont be an idiot!!!! Do not give out your information next they will send you a check for you to take to your bank and then ask for the processing fees bank. And when the check comes back fraud you lose all that money. |

No dont do it, was this from an email or letter solicitation? I work for a bank and I am a business banker, do not volunteer information like that to anyone unless you are expecting a wire. Certain countries are on a list of countries that the US prohibit from doing wires and transfers to, per example: Nigeria, other African countries where fraud is huge and there is no regulations, Russia, China, North Korea and certain South American countries. It sounds like a phishing scam, DO NOT DO IT ! I see fraud everyday , Never Ever send a photocopy of your passport or ID, This is where identity fraud happens. If anything take my recommendation SERIOUSLY, Like I said I am a business banker and I know what I am talking about unless you dont care about your money.
Take care |

its a scam and its not just you, you dont have any inheritance and your not getting a million dollars unless you win the lottery
doont do it delete the email and but it in the junk section |

Yes. This is a relatively old internet phenomenon called 'spam'. One common form of spam is a request for personal bank account information, which can then be used to access you accounts. This is an obvious example of such a scam. |
