Package of Ham/Salami/etc: 3.00
Can of Tuna/Salmon: 1:00
Brick of Cheese or Cheese slices: 5.00
2 Cans of soup: 2.00
Bag of Carrots/celery/peppers etc: 2.00
Carton of eggs (for boiling/ egg sand etc) 1.50
Juice Boxes, (10) 2.00
Head of lettuce 1.00
Mayo 2.00
mustard 1.50
Total : $31.50 for all of that stuff, which is more than you would need for one week of lunches only. How much is McD's about 8.00 a day: x 5 is $40.00.
You would not even need everything listed, but it gives you an idea that you could have a well balanced and varied lunch for less and much better for your health. |

I don't know about the prices of a particular store, but it is definitely cheaper to brown bag. For one you can control what you eat better. You can also by enough for the whole week at one time, one pack of lunch meat, 1 loaf of bread, some fruit, some drinks, maybe some carrot sticks. It is healthier and cheaper, but it is a pain in the butt to remember to make your lunch before you go to work, especially if you have kids to get ready too. |

It is almost always cheaper to pack a sack lunch... Eating out used to be cheep but now days I can't even take out my family of 5 for under $30.00. Pack cheep stuff like PBJ and chips in a baggy or carrot stix that is all cheep stuff and drink water or bring home made juice. It is always cheaper to pack in my opinion. |

It depends on what you put in the sack lunch. Do you really want quality or do you want it to be cheap. Either way, I don't think that McDonald's or Jack in the Box is made out of the most expensive stuff they could find. I'd go with Trader Joes |

Oh my gosh, yes! When you think or calculate how much a lb. of hamburger costs, and how much they charge you for that one thin burger,
Or a 1/2 lb. of Fresh Cold cuts - as opposed to again, a thin sandwich with a couple of lettuce leaves thrown on, and some mayo/mustard...
Just buy in a small quantity - and re-buy as you need/use it! Then it will always stay fresh and cost you Much!! less.
Ex.'s also: a tomato, a head of lettuce, a Large Juice, pop, even Water! It's FREE from home...:-)
Some coffeeshops/deli's and corner stores will even want to charge you up to $4.00 for ONE Slice of Cake/loaf - and you can make a whole one yourself for about $3.50 ~~
So add it up...I think you get the idea...a banana instead of an expensive snack...also.?!

And, sorry to be lengthy - but - most places now in the workforce have Microwaves, and you can buy microwaveable lunches, snacks very cheap!! Good for leftovers, too! |

If you pack your lunch fullstop it is always cheaper. You also have the benefit of knowing that you made the lunch and you know what went in it and it is up to you how healthy you make your lunch. I don't think Mcdonalds is very healthy to much fat but hey if thats what you prefer then go for it |
