Report him to the police and that will land his a$$ in jail. Intentionally writing checks when you don't have the funds to cover it is fraud. Punishable by jail. I doubt you'll get your money back from this cad. |

Yes, it's called check fraud. He knowingly wrote a check that he knew would not be covered by his bank. You can go to your District Attorney to pursue charges. I bet you're not the only one he wrote checks to. |

Yes it is illegal. Report it to the police. File suit against him in small claims court. Never lend money to an addict |

you can take him to court, and get it noted with the police dept, they have someone that works just on bad checks. he will eventually get caught and do time. in court you might get your $ 60.00 back. |

it is HIGHLY illegal....i'd suggest you go to your police department and report it - that is, IF you are willing to suffer any possible repercussions that may happen as a result - if the guy is dangerous, i'd just cut my losses and move on. |
|

what?
 |
it is illegal. it's called bank fraud. it's a federal offense.
but good luck trying to get any prosecutor to go after this guy for passing a bad check for $60. now, if you wanted to get him arrested in a prescription drug sting, they'd probably be a bit more interested. |

Get Smart and Get a New Friend. Writing a check on a closed account is check fraud. |

Yes, it is illegal and you can have him prosecuted, but what I want to know is this: if you knew he was an azz, why did you cash the check? |

YES! ITS FRAUD AND VERY MUCH ILLEGAL. Things like these are what causes banks to charge ridiculous amounts of FEES. I work in banking myself, and we do not hesitate on calling the cops on people who commit fraud. |

yes you could take him to small claims court or... you can give the check to your local prosecutor were he can bring charges against your friend |

The imbarassment at the register will be enough, for everything is going electronic and it may decline your check on the spot. I personally would not do it, it is pretty much illegal |

Writing a bad check is a Federal offense. |

The legal action you would need to take would cost more than the check unfortunately. You would need to take him to small claims court and hope to be awarded the $60 and bounced check fees, etc. plus court costs.
And yes that's illegal ;) Any sort of bad check writing is illegal. |
