I have been with the HSBC from the time it was the Midland (those days of good service are long gone) 28 years ago. I have seen the service go down. I went to exchange my euro back into pounds and the spotty guy who was behind the desk actually told me he didn't know how to convert the currency. I HAD TO SHOW HIM! Living abroad trying to sort out things having to wait on the phone after pressing about a zillion didgets and then the girl telling me she couldn't help! I drew up a will and made the bank the executor, they sent the will back 5 times with major errors in (Spelling of names being the main one) all they had to do was copy the spelling) needless to say they are no longer dealing with my will. To answer your question.....worst bank I couldn't compare,, would I recommend HSBC ....NEVER.

For heaven's sake don't get an account with Nat West. If you think HSBC are bad they are knights in shining armour compared to RBS/Nat West.

Sadly, it's not just them. From experience, *all* banks are crap.

no natwest are the worst. I ended up with over £300 of bank charges cos i was not notified of the original charge do to a late tranfers over christmas cos of all the bank holidays. So cos i was not told of the first charge i was over drawn with out knowing so was charged about £60 a month till i eventually found out!

Physics-Student
It depends on what the problem is. Did they charge you for over-drawing your current account or for writing a cheque when you didn't have any funds?

All banks are bad in the same way as some customers are bad for not accepting their responsibilities of not to over-spend! I had an account with HSBC but they charged me £30 for being over-drawn and this had a knock-on effect on my sums and so the total charge came to £73. I told them to stuff these charges it in the front orifice of PA of their fat chairman. this was it and now I only bank with Abbey!!

Cool down sweet!
The bank stands to lose a customer like you,but all the more you also lose out with your credit ratings.
Banks have a good grapevine-and check on your behaviour when they offer you their services.
If u search for a new bank, chances are there that HSBC may report you "as not good'.
So make peace!
Remember-its not the bank that you got angry with-it may be the not-so-helpful-official at the bank who prejudged you wrong.
All the best!
