Is it ok to keep swapping credit cards for there 0% interest or does it damage credit scoring?

It will go down by 5-10 points if you don't cancel the old ones. I swap cards a lot, and I don't always close out my old ones, I just forget. Then when I check my credit score, I remember!

It damages the Credit score. Just don't do it very often. Find one that will do low interest rate for lifetime of the loan then leave it alone till its paid off.

plasticrooster
yes it is okay, no it does not damage credit so long as you dont create too many apps in a given time period. try getting a new card every 6 months so that you may stop using the old one with 6 months to go and start on the new one.

swap on my brotha!

Applying for many different credit cards does damage a credit score.

If you already have only a few cards (3 or 4 max) and they have a special promotion that comes up, it is okay to transfer the balances.

zokyn79
It doesn't damage your credit score if you don't do it too often.

keep swapping you do not need the expense of paying extortionate amounts of interest

Chris C
I know that having been accepted for a credit card does good things for your credit rating, regardless if they are interest free or not. So I would assume that as long as you keep within the limit, it's not a problem.

I don't work in finances or anything though, so don't take my word for it! It's just what I presume.

nemesis
If you make too many applications in a short period of time, then it can damage your credit rating. Also, having too many credit cards can affect your credit rating. If you are a "rate tart" (someone who continually transfers a balance) then you need to make sure you close the old accounts.
