You are committing a fraudulent act now...and now you are asking for advice on how to commit a crime. Shame on you. |

Just a side-note here... If your client wants to write out the check for "tax purposes" as you say, then that means that it is being reported to the government somehow. So at some point, you may get tangled up in your web of deceit here. Once the government learns that you made the money, they are going to want to tax you on it. Since the check is in your sisters name, she may not be very happy with you if she gets in trouble over this. |

You can deposit it into your sister's account (she must endorse it) as long as you don't ask for cash back. Also, you have to have the deposit slip made out ahead of time from the back of the checkbook. |

This is illegal. The check must either be cashed by your sister at the bank that it is drawn on or deposited into an account with your sister's name on it. Your bank may go ahead and do it, if you have enough money in your account to cover the check should it be bad. However, they are breaking the law if they do. |

That's bad business. You could all get into a heap of trouble. That's considered fraud. |

Have your sister either deposit it in her account and reimbusre you [a mild form of money laundering] or just have her sign the back and sign it over to you! Then you can just deposit it! |

yes you can deposit the check, if the check is good with money in the bank that the check account if written on. then no problems. you will not be able to cash it but you can deposit it only if the person that the check is made out to had endorse the back of it. then and only then is it a go. the check had to be signed/endorsed on the back than just deposit it. as soon as the check clears the money will be deposited/transferred into your account. |

Yes it is. You can sign your sister's name with the initials of your name next to it then write "For deposit only." But now you have created another problem. Your client will submit your sister's name to IRS at the end of the year reporting all money paid to her. This keeps their books balanced and and all outgoing monies accounted for. However, your sister now has additional income added to her total income for the year which will place her in another tax bracket and she will have to pay higher taxes because of this. It can be done but someone will pay for this crime. |

no, i don't think so unless you have your sisters name on the account... but you can just have your sister deposit the check in her account then write you a check for the same amount or she can just cash the check and give you the money. |

I guess your sister has some money coming to her.
Next time get the green backs. If she can write a check she can pay you cash. |

You can't just deposit it in your account, you would at least need to get her to print your name on the back of the cheque and sign it. Probably best to check with your bank though asa different places may have different standards. |

She has to endorse the check since it's made out to her. After she does that, you have to endorse it! If your bank will accept a double endorsement you're fine but the best thing would be for her to deposit the check into her account and give you the cash! If she won't do that, you've defeated your purpose by accepting a check made out to another person since you'll have to endorse it anyway. |

You can deposit it if she signs it over to you, (on the back, PAY TO THE ORDER OF - your name, and she signs it) if not your out of luck. P.S. you shouldn't be showing the world your shades of gray :-) |
