Is it worth charging all monthly bills then just paying it off at the end of the month?
I have a credit cards that has no miles or points attached to it. Is it worth is to put all my monthly bills on it then pay it off before interest is applied? I would figure this would improve my FICO score, is this true?

That's how people get into trouble. They charge up the cards and excpect to pay them off when the bill comes. The thing is they don't plan for emergencies and then an emergency comes up and now they don't have the money to pay off the cards and you start to get behind.

Once you start getting behind at the credit card game its hard to get out of the game. High interest rates. Outrageous over the limit and late fees.

Pay as you go. Live on less than you make and you will have money.

Debt free is the way to be.

According to wikipedia, FICO scores are intended to show the likelihood that a borrower will default on a loan; a separate score

This is just one part of your credit score however. Other parts include
* 35% — punctuality of payment in the past (only includes payments later than 30 days past due)[citation needed]
* 30% — the amount of debt, expressed as the ratio of current revolving debt (credit card balances, etc.) to total available revolving credit (credit limits)
* 15% — length of credit history
* 10% — types of credit used (installment, revolving, consumer finance)
* 10% — recent search for credit and/or amount of credit obtained recently

So it will make a difference because it shows you not only pay on time, but that you have a longer credit history. It will help when you try to get an appartment, or car loan.

good idea if u r sure u can pay the balance off before the end of the month

If you dont get miles or points there is no benefit. It only imporves your score if you make monthly payments, not if you pay it all of at once. Then they cant see how you handle having a line of credit.

Assuming you will have the money to pay the bills at the end of the month, it would make more sense to put the money in an interest-BEARING account, then paying it off at the end of the month, rather than putting it somewhere that CHARGES fees & interest, wouldn't it?

And it won't have any impact on your FICO score...

Hermoderus
The only possible benefit would be in the interest earned on the float, which (unless you have extremely high monthly bills) is unlikely to amount to more than $30-40 per year.

melodi
Yes it is.

It doesn't help your score at all.. There's no point if there is no incentive to use the card.

maybe, but will more likely happen is you will have a tons of debt on the cards that you will mean to pay off, but sure as ****, you will find yourself in hot water down the road.

just me
If you pay it every month it will show you are good about payments and that raises your credit limit and score

I don't think it will have much effect on your FICO, unless the credit card is one that you are not using (zero balance).

It can make life easier, but automatic payment from your checking account makes more sense. I only use the VISA for those that don't use auto pay plan.

I used to route everything through the VISA to get the milage points, and to have the option of using VISA's veto (bad charging) policy to stop anyone from double billing. Never had to use it.

credit cards are bad news. Use a debit card. It can do anything a credit card will do except get you into debt.
