jalady | Is it worth it to be a member of Sam's or Costco? |
Is it worth it to be a member of one of these stores is you are single and buying groceries for just one person...I see a big discount for in the photo department, but I'm wondering if I am saving money?

it depends if you have the money to buy in bulk and have it last awhile then it is smart but if it just for pictures you get the same price at walmart. Walmart and Sam's are often the same because they are the same company |

It depends on what you by. They sell bulk things, and much larger quantities. For me, it is worth it, because I stock up on supplies to only need to go shoppers every now and then. If you are a regular shopper, than probably not. I have saved a lot of money doing it this way though. |

It depends if you have room to buy in volume. My BF and I split things and it works for us. We have separate households. You can split with a friend. You can also share a membership with a friend. 2 people can be on a costco membership. They do not have to be relatives. |

It really depends. I think in reality I probably could save more by not being a member and shopping a little smarter, but sometimes they just can't be beat. |

~~You can buy more than groceries at Costco. In my opinion, it's definitely worth it. I buy everything through Costco, I know I will get the finest quality at the lowest price. The best thing with Costco, if you are never satisfied with any product you buy there, you may return it-no questions asked. They treat their members like gold. We have also taken advantage of their car buying program, health and dental insurance, They also have awesome travel packages, auto and home insurance and on and on. The best thing to me is they stand behind everything they offer. It makes an average person to afford the better things in life! It's a store in a class of it's own!~~ |

Some things like meats, a single person can save because you can separate and freeze. But overall, these clubs benefit people with med. size and large families. Both are money savers but Sam's prices are lower than Costco. |

Sam's is better but, since your shopping for one person it's probably not good to go. Unless you want huge quantities of things cheaper, that you know you'll eat and won't expire. |
|

Hey!

I personally like Costco better. They give better offers, and offer large varieties, and you pay less. In costco everyone treats you with respect and help you when you cannot find something. Also, they have this new offer that for every 100 dollars you wasted in the previous year they will give you 25 dollars back. So try costco but if you don't like it you can always go to Sams. And yes you are saving a lot of money. |

We don't have Costco, but we have Sam's. I'd say no, not for one person. And maybe not for a family of 5. It used to be that you'd see a big discount when you went there, but now days it seems their prices are much the same as Walmart.
What you could do is find a few buddies who want to go with you, and you could buy a card and have them pay part of it, and then buy stuff and split it. My mother takes me sometimes and she will buy stuff and split it with me. She doesn't make me pay anything, but with your friends, you could, to make it fair. You can all get in on one card, if you're together, and then maybe save some money that way. I have done some comparison shopping with Walmart though, and found that it's about the same price. |

Yes, my mom has costco and she gets like 200+ dollars off for having the gold card! And that's a good thing if you have a large family(like mine, 8 people) then it's a really good thing!! |

it is only a benefit if you need to buy in bulk... if not, then many of the things could go bad before you finish eating / using them - although I do really like Sam's Club. You would save money if you are buying in bulk, for if you bought bulk separately then it would cost more - but if you are buying less, then it isn't really a big deal
Hope that Helped
