Buy a used dress (you're only going to wear it once) and take a taxi otherwise the yard sale idea sounds good. |

Prom definitely is pretty expensive. If you live in a city, you can look on Craigslist and you can do some odd jobs. You could walk someone's dog or wash cars. Of course, you need to be careful and may want to talk to your parents first before going out and doing that! I think that's the only quick way to get cash... doing odd jobs for people in your town.
My mom drove me to prom. Showing up in a limo is no big deal. My dress was fabulous and didn't cost more than 80 dollars. You don't need to show up like Paris Hilton! It's the great experience of a last dance with your friends.
Good luck & have fun !! |

Organize a fundraiser or make a yard sale. Or win the lottery. |

How about going through your neighborhood and offer car wash service for $12., and if you have a portable vacuum maybe $15. Yard work is another option if you are able to provide your own equipment. Any kind of odd jobs like window washing, etc. It's things people hate to do and are gladly willing to pay a reasonable fee for. |

forget the yardsale.
you will make quicker and faster money if you work one weekend (sat. and sun) at your local flea market. sell all you can
flea markets are around 25.-35.00 per day to sell. so you have to have 3x's that in items to sell for you to even do it.
i have been doing flea markets for over 20 years. its my full time job. flea markets are big money if you know what to sell. |

Well I honestly dont think anyone is going to donate money for you to go to prom - im not trying to be mean or anything, but there are thousands of other causes that can be helped, such as feeding starving people etc. so I dont think your prom is going to be a big concern.
I would suggest finding a part time job- like babysitting, where they pay you cash right away, so you dont have to wait for a paycheck...
Good luck, I hope you have a great prom! |

You should have probably started saving a few months ago. Isn't it a little too late to raise money now? |

I have an idea. Have everyone in your class create a piece of art. Go to IKEA and buy frames with matting. Have an art sale! Invite parents and friends. Divide the proceeds among all of the people going to the prom.
Who wouldn't want a piece of framed art from their children???
Do it in the auditorium or send home a "fund raising notice" to all families. They can pre-purchase the art with a form sent home.
It may take a little work, but it could be a great source of income.
I'd limit the price to $20 since that seems a price everyone is Ok with paying.
Good luck! |

Do you have anything around your room you could sell in the local newspaper classifieds? Get your parent's permission to sell stuff first. You could sell a few items to raise some money.
If you get an allowance, consider taking your lunch from home with you rather than spending it on lunch at school. I work, and doing that saves me between $700 and $1000 a year.
Best wishes |

I don't have many suggestions. But many people in such situations sell some stuff on ebay that is laying around and some do end up making a nice amount off them.
I suggest you try ebay.
Your trash might be someone's treasure!!
Good luck!! |
