I think that private school is very expensive but it is worth while having your kids there, they learn far to much than other schools |

holy sh*t you'd wanna hope they all become something like... um... I duno the President or something?!?!
I go to a public school in Australia and my school in one of the top in the State. The private school down the road is one of the highest in the state too... for kids on the drug trade. I'm not saying public schools have more drugs, I'm saying it depends on the school not the public/private brand it has.
A private school education doesn't guarentee your kids are going to be smart or even successful in life. |

No. It isn't normal, and you'd be much better off sending them to public school and putting that money away for college.
And if you're the kind of person who is revolted by the idea of sending your kids to public school.....well, anyone who thinks like that is a lost cause. |

If you enrolled them in a good public school and then spent that money on tutors, you'd get better quality.
Private school doesn't make you who you are. It just insulates you so you only interact with people from a similar socioeconomic background. Your kids will get out in the real world and get a big shock. Also, their friends will probably be more wealthy than they are. That's going to make them feel awkward, if you are struggling to pay for their private education.
If you invested that money for them, and sent them to public school, you'd be able to pay for their college education. THAT would have a greater effect on their success in life. What good is a private school education if you can't afford college? Go see a financial planner.
Best wishes |

You are paying college tuition. Do you have to send your kids to private school? |

I'm assuming your talking about college. School is expensive but definitely worth it. Especially now, it sucks that there isn’t more financial aid offered to middle class Americans! Hopefully your kids are thankful |

I agree with Goonchild. Your children may grow up becoming elitists and may not even know what society is really like. |

Normal for who? If you've got the money and that's how you want to spend it and you think you can buy a better education that's what a free market is all about.
I'm not sure about the $20K per kid price tag because I've never really looked into that market. I'm guessing it varies by region and you probably "get what you pay for" (though not always).
Is it typical for most Americans? - No. Most people can't afford it. And some places still have decent public schools (not where I live though).
It it typical for most wealthy Americans? Sure. There just aren't very many of them.
What do I have to say about it? It's good to be rich. Wish I was. |

You owe it to your kids to give them the best possible start to life, especially with the growing economy. The smarter they are, the better off they're going to be later on down the track. |

Most people can't afford that but if you can then cool, as long as you're not going broke. It must be a very prestigious school. |
