kiwimango_03 | Is using $9,000 in 5 months a lot? |
Just on shopping and going out. Additional Details No, I live in a college dorm that my parents pay for. I'm a college student, I don't have bills. |

You are talking about $60 a day.
This is a lot of money and there only a few lucky americans that could afford to waste money like that.
The question is, how do your parents feel about that? Are they going to be able to continue to support you after college? It will be IMPOSSIBLE to spend like that if they don't. |

S P O I L E D........9,000 on shopping, no bills, that is entirely too much in 5 months. What do you see from it. You have no self structure, you need to be saving every dime you get, even though parents are paying for the dorm and educational expenses. I think that is selfish of you, not sure where you got it from, but you should have saved at least some of it and help pay for the next semester with some of it. You need to get control of your habits right now while you are young, because mom and dad will not be around forever and when you are not able to get what you want and spend like you want, you tend to start doing other things and thinking that everyone owe you what mom and dad also gave you. Stop being spoiled and grow up and learn to take more responsibilites other than spending 9000 dollars in 5 months and bragging about it. |

Yes, it is a lot. Imagine if you had to earn it yourself earning minimum wage. I bet it would take you over 9 months to earn that amount of money.
Slow it up. Unless your parents make $200k per year each and allocate $20k for you a year to spend on shopping and going out.
Better yet, ask your parents! If it's okay with them by all means there is no need to change. |

Yes, that is a lot of money if you are not paying rent or a mortgage or other expenses such as that. |

I think it is a lot of money that you have spent in five months. If you are attending a boarding school out of town is acceptable. You are a big spender for shopping and going out. I didn't spend that much while I was attending the international school in Vancouver, Canada, for tuition fee and room and board from Korea directly. |

Make a plan for the future. Unfortunately, not everyone gets the ideal job straight out of college. Put some back so that you have something to fall back on in case you are a time without a job. |

Yes, wasteful. What are you getting out of it? Put it in savings or a retirement plan. |

Girl you spend that on just shopping and going out? Thats more then most people in this country live on for 6 months. You may have a problem with saying no or with shopping addiction. I have never spent more than 300 or 400 a month because well it bugs me to spend money on myself like that when so many others are so poor. You should save for your future. Plus I have never had the money to just blow like that. Its your life but if you were my kid Id make you get a job at starbucks so you could see what it takes to earn that kind of money. They make like 250 a week .Let me add the only time I spend like that is when I get my tax return I splurge just a little and spend 3 or 4 hundred on a trip and thats usaully a business trip not just fun. |

I like how your living in the moment, a lot people need to learn to do that.
However, if this is hurting your finances you need to come up with a budget. |
